Exclamation HELP? coolant leaking inside cabin??

So i've had the notorious over heating issues out of no where i may add. Air bubble for sure. I broke the bleeder valve by over torquing it....not hard at all to break.... so i leave the thread in there. I buy the lysle funnel tube tool. I lift the car up, fill the bitch up and squeeze all the hoses. First i notice that a little bit of coolant is dripping from the bottom which appears to be from the rad but it stops....so im like hmm ok. Anyways it stops leaking after a second which is wierd b/c i've never had it leak before when i was bleeding before.
Anyways still no luck with successfully bleeding the rad so i say fuck it and call it a day. I've already have coming a new mishimoto rad, silicon hoses, air breather tank the whole nine yards...
As i go to put my stuff in my car from the passenger side i notice coolant on the floor. WTF?! so i look up, my head underneath the dash area of the passenger side and i see from one corner its leaking.... i don't have a clue man... and i should also add that i smell coolant every time i've blasted the heat.
Any clue as to what's going on or suggestions would help. Thanks.

HEATER CORE FOR SURE. that is the only way you could ever have coolant leaking in the cabin? heater core is behind the glove compartment under the airbag if you were wondering. I've never replaced one but I'm sure there are threads on how to tell if your heater core is bad/how to replace it

That's what I was thinking too, you can just re-route the lines to not go to your heater core and see if that stops the leaking. Then you can choose whether or not you want to replace it, or just have it as it is.

jus did some quick reading and I think you have to pull the entire dash to replace it.. not fun

I suppose you could loop your heater hoses but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. If it were my car I'd replace it

If he were to loop the lines, all he's doing is losing the option to use the heater. It's summer time anyways..lol

Well if a bombshell was cold in your pimpmobile, then she'd probably want to ride in another car that has a functional heater.

You have to loop the two lines that lead to your heater core.

If you have some time off, take a day to pull the dash.

It isn't as hard as you'd imagine.

You could go to the junkyard and pull a heater core from another 240, or buy a new one.

Good luck!

New heater cores aren't bad, less than $80.

The downside is the entire dash, crossbar, and heater case all have to come out. With the know how it's an hour job in and out, a few more for a beginner, but it's not bad. FSM will get you there in no time.

thanks guys, i found a guy sending me a heater core for 40 shipped. But i have alot of stuff i need to do to my car and i need to be able to drive over to my friends place to work on it since he does work on cars and such and has all the tools and know how. So my game plan was to loop it for the mean time. When the part comes in, just unloop and get to work.
I don't think taking the dash apart seems to hard. Just a bunch of bolts, like taking apart the steering column which i did when i replaced my gauge lights with led's. I suspect that that's like 1/4 of the job? lol.

yeah man i searched and found some. i'm not worried about it though, it's not something that need's urgent attention since it's still warm and only getting hotter. I'll definitely get to it before September though but if i need some help i'll be sending you a pm your way thanks for the offer!

i'll let ya'll know whats up

oh and reason that i want to have my car running is b/c i have a new/used (but new to me) fujitsubo legalis evolution exhaust to put on(balliiinnn), my friend is redoing my IC piping, pull my rear fender more, and install my PBM skid plate that's been sitting in the box for a while.

ok update guys.
so i looped the lines together.
used the funnel tool and burped the car for a while until i saw no more air bubbles come out. took me a while b/c it was stuck somewhere in the upper rad hose where my defi water temp sensor was. giving me reading's all over the place.
had to really squeeze the lines alot.
finally runs normal again minus heat.
getting my heater core in sometime this week and will tackle that later this month.
i highly recommend using the funnel for anyone who had a problem like me. i didn't use the bleeder valve b/c i broke it when i was tightening it.

The issue I see with the heater core is the plastic parts that get brittle and snap. When I was under my dash diagnosing a leaking heater core I noticed some of the necks were plastic.

Ppl in warm climates have it made, looping the heater lines is definately the way to go.

OP make sure you also get some stainless worm clamps and use some actual hoses (its a little smaller than 3/8ths) the blue silicone hoses from the breather tank end up splitting from the clamps and ruin your world.

Agreed about the plastic hose ends cracking/breaking off - that's the biggest problem.

The big deal for me with the heater core is the defroster - last fall/winter with my heater hoses looped and no HVAC controls, I'd be fine driving during the day, but as soon as the sun went down and the temps dropped, I'd roll my windows up and the windshield would fog up almost instantly!

I tried Rain-X treatments inside and out (inside was a bitch), and nothing helped 100%. That's why with the RB25, the heater hoses are gettin hooked up lol.
