I recently bought a 1989 rb25 s13 coupe and the gauges are not working. The tach jumps up and down randomly and the speedo does not even move. Both are wired, but nothing is happening. I was thinking the gauge was broken, but not sure if it is or not. So I was deciding on buying a new instrumet panel. The problem is, i do not know if it is a sohc or a dohc. Please Help. Thanks.

Its most likely not broken... I'm currently installing a Kouki s14 cluster into a zenki s14 and I'm having similar issues. Your issue might be more difficult, I don't know where the speed sensor is for the rb, and I dont know if it sends the same signal. Your tach most likely needs to be modded so it can read the 6 cylinder signal... You would have to investigate more into your speedo problems....hope this helped

I bought a dakota digital 5 box. I am gonna install it soon and see what it does for me. On the panel, it seems the previous owner changed the tach side and I do not know if he messed it up. Thanks

for the tach to work you either need this thing in line with tach and motor or you need a tach out of a r32-34. The stock 240sx tach cant read a 6 cylinder signal which is why its bouncing around. If the tach looks different he might have tried to change it to the r32 one but didnt wire it right.
