I VHT'd my valve cover as well over 3 years ago. Shit is still holding up strong.
Added 20,000 miles to it and the finish still looks like the day I coated it. Good stuff. |

Sweet, thanx guys. I will be replacing my valve cover gasket very soon and figured I might as well paint the cover. I just hate seeing valve covers with chipped paint.
I read it takes forever to dry and I will most likely be painting in my basement due to the colder weather. I will post up pics when this all goes down. My maroon top is going to be a red top.

yo so I am pulling my motor.. I could care less about my engine bay, but it is black.. Think I can touch it up with black enamel spray paint? Like the strut towers having scratches in them etc.. perhaps get 2 cans of appliance black , sand the areas and lay a few coats? Not really needing the spray the whole bay but thinking it could help?

rattle can is ghetto. have someone paint it if you dont know how, you will be much happier i promise. also people arent realizing how much of a pain it is to put quality paint on something that has been previously spray painted. its a pain in the ass, good paint doesnt like spray paint and can attack it and cause it to wrinkle, thus ruining the paint you are trying to apply. if you have to spray paint anything use SEM trim paint or their primer, it doesnt react all crazy. just my experience.

Agreed. I used to see spray can jobs and even some amateur HVLP gun jobs that came out like that. I'd always say "dude did you use finger paint? I could do better with a roller!!". I always said that as a joke because you would think a roller job would come out like crap right? Well during the past week I've been eating my own words. I'm halfway through roller-painting a hood so I can lose my rusty one. Even just after 600 grit sanding it looks 10x better than the above spray bomb or any other half-asses rattle can job for that matter. I can't wait to see how it looks after 4-6 more coats and some cut/buffing.

Gonna try and pick up some Kouki side skirts and was thinking of rattle canning them just to match before I get my real paint job within the year.
What would be the best grit sand paper to use for sanding/wet sanding? And is it Rustoleum Regal Red that matches the Aztec red or the S14 zenki red? |

if the paint on the sides is still good just wet sand it with 800 until it looks doll then use some pre paint cleaner and a tack cloth then paint

here we go.... 3 coats of each layer
primered flat black painted semi gloss white clear coated didn't tape off the one tire because it has a massive hole in the side wall, so it was getting tossed anyways. aaaand my old truck. it looked great and all when i bought it, but some douche bags keyed my truck (long story short, they targeted my truck specifically, came to my house, keyed it, and left. caught it all on camera). they wrote "fuck ecb" on it. ecb is a local gayng, so it was either a cover up, or they thought i was in the gang. idk. in the end, we decided to just do the whole truck, because it couldn't be paint matched due to the age of the truck. heres pics when i first bought it after washing it, getting it running, and waxing the shit out of it. so heres some pics of when we first started working on it. a LOT of bondo when into fixing this, because it had a few dents, and some major rustage in the rock guard on one side, and bad bondo job on the driver side door previous to us buying it. drove it like this for awhile, because we lost time to work on it. then we got back into it and finally finished it (minus the roof, sold it before then, so i could buy my 240.) we also took off all of the gay trim it had on it. this hood pic was before the hood was finished lol and this is while it was wet... looked nice lol |

heres what ive been working on for the past few days
i picked up this: then i got to sanding, there is thin flat black spray paint over the OEM silver color with randm deap swirl marks from where it loks like he tryed to kind of half ass sand it.. real shame to, the silver i found when i chipped off the spray was beautiful, clear coat was still pretty.. had alot so sand and smooth out it was in pretty bad shape there were quite a few gashes and big problems, but i wanted to get the first coat of primer to be able to see what it would and wouldn't cover got to sanding the first coat and started to see what i needed to fix, i ran short on primer, but i got most of the placed i wanted to see for now.. got to sanding the first coat down and working with the larger gashes, i decided to do the side pieces real quick for some instant gratification: This is about when i used epoxy and filled the big gashes after hitting them with some 80 grit after fighting it all smooh and then after a 1000 grit wet sanding it was time for first coat of real krylon primer.. after a few more of those, about 3 coats and 1000 grit wet sanding cycles of krylon nickel satin and about 3 coats of krylon clear and 1200 grit wet sanding cycles here i am.. i still need to do another good coat of clear, break it down to a smooth layer and buff it.. my car is oem champagne this is right after the most recent spray of clear, the clear isint very shiny at all, and it layed down pretty bumpy.. lets hope it clears up with a few mroe coats, wet sanding and buffing :/ cheesy pic of car for color: (girlfriend car..lol) any tips guys or thoughts, im not really trying to get the surface ? this is still % right now and i know it wont really match, ill do that when i repaint the car, so i didn't fill all the smaller things, meh. work in progress.. |

Dude I'm jealous!
I want a type-x front. When I painted my bicycle frame with rustoleum spray can, I had a few bumps and lumps, wet sanding it worked out pretty well and the paint turned out smooth and glossy. |

make me a offer i cant refuse...
i really want it, but my car is still not running due to lack of a tuned ecu and a few other things lol.. if not i gotta find some sides and maybe a rear valence.. although i dont really have a rear QP to attach one to, stupid tire ripping i really like the krylon nickel color.. rulzzzz: more of my rattle canning valve cover, VHT black with VHT silver barley pressed and sprinkled from the can about 4 feet above it, then lots of clear.. this has not been wet sanded at all yet. the same thing done for a friends 2jz, no clear its meh, he liked it vht is good |

What will it come with?
PM me!! Here's my SR/KA manifold I painted with Rustoleum high heat flat aluminum paint from Autozone. I had to get it torched with a propane torch to get a stuck stud out, and it still didn't flake off. I love it!!! |
