I'm having a problem with my sidewalls turning blue after any drift events. Apparently I'm totally over driving my tires.

I switched over to better tires but I'm still having problems with this.

Should I run more tire pressure or less?? I run a stock KA so how I'm over driving my tires is beyond me.

BTW, tires turning blue has nothing to do with power. If one driver with a stock KA enters his drift at 70mph and another guy in a turbocharged vehicle enters at 50mph, who is going to put more stress on the tires?

I run 32psi cold on all the tires. They probly get up to about 35-36psi on the track depending on how hot/humid it is and how many runs I get. I never really check for track temp because its so variable. Sometimes I sit for 45 minutes..othertimes I'm doing like 7 runs in a row.

15x7 or 7.5 with 205/55/15's.

Front camber -2.5, rear camber -1.5. Caster ~7.5 to 8. Toe 0.

I had my sidewalls turn blue on my Yokohama Avid V4S, Dunlop FM901's and Falken Ziex ZE-512.

Does it only happen to the front or the rear too? Do they turn blue in colder weater? Do you understeer a lot? Are you rubbing at all?

Summer time drift events here in cali cause my tires to turn blue, especially after repeated runs on hot days. I've had ES100's smoke on me from some rubbing and that turned the sidewalls blue. ES100's generally don't take high temps very well either. My khumo MX when I ran them up front turned a little blue. My ST115's turned blue out in the back. I think it may have had to do with the super long ebrake slides I was doing. Certain tracks make my front tires turn more blue than others. The grittyness of the pavement has a lot to do with it. Are other people's tires turning blue?

Generally, tires turning a little blue is kind of normal on hot days. I wanted to know your setup to see if that was making things worse than normal. Seems like a pretty good setup but your tire pressures might be getting too high. Check them after every run and keep them under 38 unless you are going for mad smoke and don't mind killing them quicker.

If you are having wear problems with your sidewalls, increase the pressures to increase the tire's "springrate" and keep them from rolling onto the sidewalls. If the only problem you see with your tires is the bluish tint from them being overheated, either don't worry about it, or bring a simple pump water sprayer to cool them between runs. Honestly, if you are drifting on them, you will kill the tires long before they heat cycle out or start to crack the sidewalls.
