does it matter if the car is california emission what ecu it has seems my shop found that my ecu is bad they said its a california model, anyways i remember my ecu was a code 28 ecu does it matter if i put another 5 speed ecu or not?

From what I remember, federal ECUs will work on both Cal and federal cars..

yeah you'll want a california ecu, because they control the egr system, not sure if 240's from other states have egr's or not.

As far as I know, all KAs come with the EGR. He should be fine.

The AIV / PAIR on the other hand was 89-94 only, I think.

ahh gotcha. i knew there was something different with cali models but couldnt remember what it was. thanks
