About to purchase an impact gun. Just one more question.
Will impact gun with 240ft/lbs do suspension or lsd swap job? Say, pulling half shaft from axle or a bolt from suspension strut?
RPM is at 2700rpm and starts at 2100rpm.

for lsd the most torque you need is 104 i tihnk for the bolts that hold the bearings in so i would guess so

you can swap suspension with hand tools and torque wrench

same thing with differential swap

but yeah, i hope its not electric. i trust hand tools.

Dont bash electric.
My buddy's SnapOn is pretty good at taking stuff off (but it breaks a lot)
He also got some cheapo 1/2in drive that is able to take off lug nuts, which is pretty good for a cheapo-electric one.
As far as suspension bolts, nothing beats IR impact with a good compessor to power it.

No, electric still sucks. Returned it the day i bought it. Blew up before it would do half of the torque it claimed.

i have an electric craftsman from sears, pretty spiffy, doesn't break, pretty strong,
i also have air compressor good stuff from harbor freights, cheap stuff, kinda like home depot but has auto stuff, love that store,
sometimes it just takes too long for my tank to fill up - only time i use my electric one...

When I did my suspension and diff, I used hand tools. I didn't feel like changing out the air chuck on my impact.

no. no power tools. use your hands. if u cant break it, go work out, come back in 6 months.

I have a 600ft/lb IR air impact, and a 240ft lb Harbor Freight cordless impact..

I use more cordless impact more. I haven't found bolt yet that it won't take off..
Axle nuts, ring gear bolts, crank bolts.. all come off like butter... as long as the battery is pretty fresh.

The only thing I've HAD to use the IR for was a flywheel crank bolt on a rotary engine.

I highly recommend the electric.

only thing I used my impact gun on was the flywheel. and ive loosened or tightened almost all major bolts on my car somehow or another, except some suspension but theres gobs of room to get a breaker bar or whatnot into those areas. and it all depends I guess if your bolts are seized badly, thats where a impact gun would really be helpful. otherwise dont waste your time with one.

The 240ftlb electric impacto gun i got from from Harbor freight barely had enough power to take off my lug nuts that some pendejo installed. I haven't used it for anything else since it's noisy as hell and I enjoy using my hand tools....

I use my sockets and wrenches for everything else, and if I can't break it loose with WD40 then what I found is useful is to take the 3' aluminum pipe/handle off my floor jack and slip it over the end of my ratchet. This gives me enough leverage to get any bolt on the car off -- so long as there is space to swing the bar around! Now if there isn't space for a breaker bar then sometimes your only hope is for a small powerful air impact gun.

You don't "need" an impact gun to work on your car but there are occasions when it helps. Unless you have an air compressor and well-outfitted garage I bet you'll find that you still use all your hand tools for almost all work.

air tools defenitly make things go faster. i use my mac 1/4" air ratchet all the time, along with the trusty snap on 3/8" impact

1/4 ratchet, 3/8" ratchet, air hammer, die grinder, 3/8 impact, 1/2" impact, as well as the trusty non air powered POUNDOMETER... a precision adjustment tool.

You must have bought a crappy one. Eletric impact guns rock! They're quiet and portable.

Yeah I got the titanium quiet series and it is so much quieter than I thought it would be. I use it all the time on lug nuts at work. There is some guy who has some electric cordless snap-on and he told me to use it once and I fkn hated it. Felt so cheap in my hand, and it just sounded like it was ready to break. It did work, but I didn't really trust it. If you have access to an air compressor that will get the job done, get an air gun - if not an electric will work if you get a good one, but I'd rather just use hand tools if I didn't have air...

Nobody flame me because I don't have much experience w/ electics, just my opinion from what I've experienced...
