1000hp 2JZ Pro Am & Beyond Build..
Well.. Why not make a build thread to document the ridiculous amount of time and money that's went into this thing over the last 8 months.
The car's original intention was to be a pro-am build, but then my irritation with constantly redoing my car to match my driving ability caught up with me and I figured why not just build something that can compete at all levels and go as far as my driving can possibly progress. Alright! I picked up my coupe back in 2012, it was a bone stock shell at the time, completely stripped down as the original owner was planning on doing a crazy pro-am build but no longer had the time. Since getting it, I swapped in a ka24e, drove a lot of events at Evergreen Drift in Washington in 2012, the following 2 years would consist of tons of additional events and gradual changes to the car to match my progression as a driver, including swapping in a 1uzfe V8 motor from a Lexus LS400. Then September 2014 comes around, and I'm wanting to try for my pro 2 license in the 2015 pro am series.. Here's what ensued. For those not wanting to read through the build.. here's the general specs on the car: S13 Coupe 2JZGTE VVTi, 10:1 CP Pistons, Eagle Rods, lots of head work, etc, etc. 1100cc Injector Clinic injectors for leaded 110 fuel. Injector Clinic fuel rail. ATL 10gal fuel cell Radium fuel cell surge tank, aem-50-1000 lift pump, 2 aem-50-1000 fuel pumps. Motor is back from the machine shop, ready to have the head mated to block and dressed Misc body parts beginning to be painted - I decided to go with a Lamborghini Huracan orange with gold flake VMount fab mockup Assembled! Fitting the motor, mockup up all the coolers and measuring out lengths for lines Painted the valve covers, just doing some finishing touches with the motor out again Ready for paint! White sealer sprayed throughout the interior, rear and front tube - car is primered! Rear subframe is back together, ready to go in All the angle More assembly while waiting for paint: Motor is finally in for good: Lots of stuff happened, car was painted - we were frantically trying to get everything assembled at this point to make the first round of pro am but didn't make it due to issues that were out of our hands. Here's where the car currently stands: I'll be updating as it gets closer to completion. Right now the car is still in need of a tune, and a few other minor things - should be shredding again by the end of the month! |
