S13 SR20 Timing Chain

Hey guys,

I just replaced my timing chain on my S13 SR20DET and I was hoping some of you could verify I did it correctly, that is, before I put my new oil pump / timing cover on.
Oh, and I know I have the wrong bolt on the right timing guide. I'm waiting for the correct one to come in.

Here are the pictures.

I was also curious... when turning the engine over, will there be periods in the cycle were the chain has a little bit of slack? Like in this picture.

Thanks!

Looks right to me... Are the #1 I/E cam lobes apposing? There shouldn't be any loose spots like that as long as you're rotating the crank in the CW direction (as you look at it from the front). Make sure the "arm" has released on the tensioner, I've had to use a long screw driver to release it before. If it makes you feel any better, here is a picture of mine after reassembly.

The chain will tighten up, mine has slight slack in it when I bought a full kit and installed it. If you are worried about the CAS check out FPSports write up.

Everything looks good... Just a suggestion, remove that upper timing chain guide. Later model engines omitted that guide completely.
