Rep your hood.

Tell me where you live or have lived and what you liked and disliked about it.

Job selection, cost of living, climate, girls, venues for entertainment, fancy gay bars, whatever.

If you haven't lived there, I don't care about it.

Use descriptive words or absolutes, everybody assigns different meanings to cheap rent, good climate, blah blah.

Lancaster county, Pennsylvania.

Pros:
It's quiet, and a good community.
Not a high rate of crime (unless you're in Lancaster City or Reading City)
Plenty of jobs if you're a mechanic. There are small family garages EVERYWHERE.
Cost of living isn't too high, either.

Cons:
There is NOTHING to fucking do.
There isn't a big selection of good looking women. Most of them are big, hairy, manly and gross. If you manage to find a good looking one, she's most likely a rich, stuck up bitch.
The weather sucks. You get the extreme on both ends. It's fucking hot in the summer and fucking cold in the winter.

Reppin Norcal.

Post 1/eleventybillion on cali.

Lived in the south bay my entire life. All the girls here won't give you the time of day. They're all either stuck up or ghetto.

The cost of living here is absurdly high. Probably ranks in the top 20th percentile in the entire U.S. I'm currently paying 2k a month for a 2b2b apartment with about 1200sq ft in a nicer neighborhood.

The climate rarely gets colder than 40 degrees with sunshine most of the year. Love it.

Wish I could spend 200k and get a mansion like out in the midwest. Out here though, 200k will get you a run down shitty condo in the ghetto. FUUUU

LA, Socal has been that only place I've ever called home
but LA is so big that different places have their own regional identities
I live in the Crenshaw area near downtown
ghetto but coming up
the hipsters are spreading like weeds every where and cool trendy areas
keep developing
where I live is a mix of both
alright during the day but I wouldn't walk around at night
what I love about LA is that everything is here culture wise
it's always sunny and warm
you can go to the beach during "winter"
cost of living is high if you want to be a snob and live in the nice areas
if you're smart you can find reasonable places to live
rent a house with roommates for ~2k in an ok area
girls are hot and vary from mellow hippy, goth, trendy, snobs... whatever you like
depending on where you go looking for them

jobs? can't speak for others but for my field of work, there seems to be plenty of jobs
I've looked and easily found ~8 open, well paying, positions within a 30min drive

sucks?
traffic, gas is not cheap
cops can be dicks if you insist on driving your bozozoku style car with 4" exhaust
but usually don't mess with you if you don't give them a reason
if you insist on living "the lifestyle" it can get expensive really quick

I've lived in Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Nebraska over the summers, Tucson and PHX in AZ.

My favorite hands down is PHX (mostly the east valley) in AZ.

Lots of hot chicks, good skating/parks, dry weather year round in PHX, lakes nearby, tons of desert to go riding/shooting, 1 1/2 drive to the mountains, 3 hour drive to go snowboarding, ASU/Tempe, cheap living.

Downsides are lots of illegals and people that steal stuff, douchebags (more than usual), really hot weather, hard to find a decent job, everything is spread out so it takes at least 20 minutes to go anywhere/car is a must/ hard to go to bars and find a ride, and some of the laws are pretty screwed up.

Pros:
Not a high rate of crime
It's quiet, and a good community.
Cost of living isn't high.
Cops are cool if your not a tool
Nice scenery
The lake is awesome
Nice looking girls
Major party town
No SMOG laws
The London Bridge

Cons:
Its fucking hot {120 plus deg during the summer}
Not a big import scene here
Jobs not to many of them rite now
The California kids come out thinking they own this place
Only a handfull of 240's here

Fuckfuckfuckityfuckfuckfuck.... That colorful enough?

In all, this is home, I was born here, went to college here and now I have planted my roots here with the purchase of my house last year.
I have been a great many other places, but I always long for home, so rather than being that dick that moves elsewhere and complains because it ain't home, this is where I will be for the foreseeable future.
Good food, good times, good family, it is all here. My only complaint is the weather, but I hate snow and we only get it a few weeks out of the year. I really wish I could be somewhere with milder summer temps, but I am torn by my cost of living being what it is. As an alcoholic, I am willing to be here, as I can justify the savings as beer money.

Los Angeles, CA

Don't know about job selection, worked in the same company forever.
Economy seems to be hit as bad as anywhere else.

Cost of living.
Is moderate (high for the US, reasonable for most nicer cities in the world). Worst thing is price of housing (rent or buy), followed by taxes, and car insurance rates.

Girls.
Here's where I disagree, I don't think it's anything special.
Then again I'm in the San Fernando Valley & Downtown area most often.

Entertainment.
We have pretty much everything. Driving events, great bars (if like beer and cocktails) & food stand out. just sucks there's a 2AM curfew & lack of mass transit, which limits certain options. IDK how ppl avoid getting DUI's here. Lot of different hubs of culture in diff areas.

San Francisco, CA. It's a cool place with outstanding public transportation. You don't need a car to go anywhere in the city. Downtown has a whole plethora of stores and things to do. I dislike the traffic on 101 leading up to the bay bridge. I don't like the super liberals telling me what I should and should not believe in ( I consider myself liberal). Gas is super expensive, well then again everything is super expensive. My tiny 3 bedroom house is worth about 3 mil. There are no big chain stores like Target and Walmart in the city. In some areas parking can be a pain in the a$$. There are all types of jobs here ranging from biotech to being a longshoreman or a day laborer. But with the economy jobs are kinda scarce. There are plenty of fancy gay bars near me in the Castro. The coldest it has ever gotten is 40º F and hottest 105ºF. Girls are so stuck up though, not like in the SoCal area where chicks are so easy to talk to. These chicks seem like you need a note with your job title, how much you make a year, what your family does, what car you drive, what college you went to, blah f them stuck up hoes.

Pros:
Probably the cleanest place I've ever been. there are literally no bums on the street, everything is sparkling clean.
Safety, I think it has one of the lowest crime rates in the US (dont quote me on this but I can believe it), never have to be afraid to go out by yourself
Beach is close, as in within biking distance
Climate is great, it's socal
College girls everywhere. Mostly asian if that's your thing
I go to school here >____> so that's convenient

Cons:
Everything looks the fucking same. endless plazas everywhere
Gets boring sometimes, nothing really entertaining to do out here
Hella asian drivers everywhere
Standard of living is ultra high
Since there's no crime here cops are SUPER BORED which means they will pull your ass over for anything. i routinely seen three to six patrol cars when i just bike to the grocery store a block away

Getting some good answers.

Can you live in LA and walk places or do you have to deal with shitty traffic?

Also, every person is talking about how bitchy the girls are, maybe girls are just bitches everywhere you go?

I lived in noVA (DC metro area) for 21 years from Arlington County to Fairfax County.

There are jobs everywhere in he fields of business, finance, law, politics, engineering/technology, medical, realistate, food service Cost of living is relatively higher than most areas, however I think it is worth it. Climate is neutral. It gets warm in the summer, cold enough to snow in the winter. There are womenz of all colors, majority being young professionals. There are sports bars pretty much everywhere. There are tons of clubs in DCs of all types of music (house, electronic, top 40, latin, regge). There are probably gay bars also.

Car scene makes its mark IMO. Just about everyone has an import tuner car, espeically if you goto a local college (GMU, UMD)

What is great about is overall is the diversity, and how there is pretty much everything. Traffic is a negative about the area. Its one of those things I'm just used to from living there for so long.

----------------

Since 2008, I've lived in Norfolk VA (Hampton Roads). Jobs are good if your Navy or in Navy related field (engineering/tech, medical). Cost of living can be overpriced for specific areas, but Hampton Roads area in general is considered average or below average cost of living. There are significantly less females than males in the area, due to the huge Navy presence. The area is by the beach, so you can imagine beach festivities and board walk bars. Climate is nice. It is ideal for me. It is nice and warm in the summer, and just hardly cold enough to snow. The area lacks high ways IMO, and there are lots of black people, not the good kind.

There are not that many car ppl in the area.

It is a nice area if your into hunting, fishing, offroading, Navy stuff. It is supposed to be a big tourist trap for the mid atlantic area, however i feel its a little over rated.

Tell me where you live or have lived and what you liked and disliked about it.

Job selection, cost of living, climate, girls, venues for entertainment, fancy gay bars, whatever.

Rapid City, South Dakota

Pro: Smaller Town (sub 100k people)
TONS of out doors stuff to do. (hiking, climbing, boating, rafting, ect)
Easy going way of life, people tend to be nicer.
Cost of living is not super high, however not super low. (average good size house (2000-3000sq ft houses average in the 180k-250k range new)
Lots of good looking girls, that arent all about themselves.
Typical entertainment shit: Movies, Malls, Ice skating rink, swimming pools, Lakes, Bars
Lots of smaller nicer places to eat that doesnt empty your pocket.
Jobs: The market is still really good here, hardly any layoffs this whole time, Easy to get a job still (IMO) Just not a TON of technical/computer based jobs out there.
Climate: Not super hot in the summer (80's are average, with a few 90's thrown in the mix)
10mins from town i can get a view like this (see pic)

Cons: Its a smaller town (this can go both ways for people)
Not alot of indoor stuff to do, since most of everything is geared towards outdoors
Climate: cold as shit in the winter, we also get blizzards that shut shit down for days sometimes. (see pic at end of post)
Not much of a Newer car scene, everything is older, and most of the newer car scene people are douche teenagers
Cost of living in the recent 5 years have been driven up from Southerners (california, colorado, Arizona) people moving up here and buying houses cheap (housing went up about 25% cost wise)
Not very Tech based out here.
Your in the middle of nowhere, if you want to go to a big city you have to travel a minimum of 5 hours

I honestly disagree with this everytime I go to SF to have a good time girls are really nice and easy to talk to its way better then out here in San jose. Girls are more stuck up in Sj then anywhere else I been too.

Girls are only stuck up if you're ugly and/or poor.
