So... after getting a harness bug (grounded power wire) that killed my car for a night and a morning, trying a new ECU, picking up some spare wheels and tires, and finally debugging my harness section by section.... I took my hdSPL S14 out to go drifting at my first sanctioned drift event with dgtrials.com .

My setup for the day:
7psi
215/45/R17 FM901's on 17x7 rims up front
215/55(?)/R15 Yoko all-seasons on 15x6.5 M30 wheels in back
Unknown tire pressures....

First off: all-seasons in back with summer tires up front = mad amounts of oversteer.....
Secondly: 7psi = mad amounts of power- on- oversteer.....

The event was very fun! There were a few good drifters there (the guys that ran the event basically) that put on a few exhibitions. I heard a couple of them made the trek down to vegas for the D1 stuff previously.

Anyways.... I had 6 total runs, 2 of which were unclean, my first and last. My first run I spun twice... being very suprised by the severe lack of grip from the all-season tires (although I should've expected that). After that I was able to get the hang of staying sideways and linking turns... eventually getting to the point where I think I was pretty much at opposite lock through the tighter turns swinging right over to opposite lock on the next turn (video to come as soon as I get something to play the tape I stole of the runs

). I had applause on my 2nd to last run. That felt reeeaaally good. Then I spun at the beginning and end of the last run, but my last spin was a good smoke show anyways, so it's all good.

I really can't wait to do this again!!

just like i did.. hahaha

it seems like us autoX guys are converting to drifting nowadays...

edit: i used the same exact tire setup as yours last sunday at local drift practice...
225/50 R16 fm901 for the fronts
195/60 R50 all season for the rears
crazy oversteer.. but its perfect for my bonestock KA hahaha

i drove in that event (2nd car on the track

) that course rocked very fast very smooth i like that back lot alot better. only thing that sucked about the day was the 90 plus heat all day and getting to the gates 2 hours before they open (3rd in line)

but other than that great event cant wait till the last wendsday of next month

turbo spools sooooo damn fast... now that i've fixed all (most) of the leaks (with my new arc welder, yaaay!). unfortunately the car wasn't in great shape for the drift practice thing, so the spool wasn't too great, and the car didn't sound as smooth as it does now

. I'll load up a recent autox vid when i finish loading it onto some webspace though. it'll give you a much better of how the spool is (audible from outside of the car now, whereas it really wasn't as prominent before).

Anyways, here's a vid of a run where wednesday's drift event seems to have trickled into a run or two:
