Washed Engine Bay, Now have problems - Zilvia.net Forums | Nissan 240SX (Silvia) and Z (Fairlady) Car Forum

Arright this is gonna be stupid but ima need some help. My car was running strong and fine at idle before cleaning the engine.
I washed my engine bay with degreaser and hosed it down without covering anything really and heard few things pop here and there. I turned it on shortly after. Yeah, stupid af. The car started bogging and blowing out some black smoke. ECU threw code 45 (leaky injector) and found out it was injector 2. Though it throws a code, it runs fine on freeway and feels like i have not lost any power. Just bogs at idle and slightly weak startup. I looked at the plugs and #2 was white tipped. Also, my e-brake light stays on, and Battery light is dimly on.

What i've done:
1) I replaced Injector o-ring
2) replaced spark plug/wire
3) Removed plugs and disconnected all wires and let it sit in the sun for a few hours
4) Compressed air into the Plug chambers
5) Compressed air all of the connectors
6) Warranty Replaced Alternator
7) Checked Fuses
8) Pulled each injector clip and rpms drop

So i'm concluding i have a short somewhere and idk where to start to figure out where to look.

This is for a 90. sohc

OK, so you sprayed the ish out of your engine, and apparently you had power to it because you heard "few things pop here and there". Did you keep on spraying when that happened? Is it possible you may have fried something by shorting it out with the water?

WOW... That's all I will say towards that....

In terms on how to 'fix' your issues, you'll have to fix them one by one. So check your codes and fix one at a time.

A common issue with washing the engine bay is spark plugs being flooded, you said changed spark plug, did you take all 4 out clean them and the wire etc individually? i mean take them out of the block and make sure they're dry.

While they're out make sure the gap is ok.

Check that the spark plugs wires are in the proper firing order.
