HIGH COMPRESSION KA24DE - Looking for a reputable shop - Charlotte, NC - TIMING/IDLE
I live in Charlotte, NC and was looking at taking it to NissTech Imports in Indian Trail. I'm looking for shop suggestions who know what they're doing when it comes to modified motors (specifically nissans). The car starts when we mess with the distributor timing but the idle is up at 2K and won't come down. I just want a shop who knows their stuff to finish this thing up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

motor looks clean as hell. car looks legit also. can i ask why yoiu would want to build a high compression KA?
coming from an rb i would check the tps and CAS i know you are running a distributer so you obviously need to check that. i can not comment on shops in Charlotte as i dont know the area. and i could be completly wrong as for a high compression KA, but i would think a weak turbo KA would even be more powerful than i high compression NA KA. my advice is to turbo that bish and youll probably fix what ever the issue is in the process unknowingly. sorry im just not alot of help. but at least i tried... also check for vac leaks... Also, I found a reputable shop here in NC I'm going to try and work with called SOHO Motorsports that specializes in Nissans.. We'll see how this plays out. They seem like great guys.

So I ended up taking the car to SOHO Motorsports and they found that the distributor was off a tooth and they set the timing. The car started right up but still had a high idle @ 1800. They told me there was an intake manifold leak. So I got the car back to my garage, pulled the intake manifold and found 2 cracked vacuum hoses. I replaced all the worn out intake hoses and bolted it all back up. The car, now holding vacuum, wouldn’t start.. again. So I took it back to SOHO and they adjusted the timing once again and the car started and idled beautifully but would bog under load. They checked everything we could think of; MAF, TPS, CTS, IACV, CPS, injectors, vacuum leaks, plugs, fuel pressure, etc. Nothing made sense as it was a stock KA other than the pistons, CAI, and other bolt-on’s.
All we could think of was a bad tune on the E-Mance ECU. I brought them my stock ECU and the car runs perfectly. Turns out the ECU was drowning the plugs with gas under any load and running super rich. I will be getting and ECU to be dyno-tuned soon.
