Battery and FMIC

Hey guys im just wondering if you have a front mount and still run your battery in then front?
or do you relocate it to the trunk?
if any body knows of any good baterys that will fit up front for a 93 silvia it would be appreciated.

We relocate the batteries to the trunk with Every swap.
Summit sells a few nice kits that includes almost everything.

^^ agreed w/ both of those guys.

i took a cheap "janky" approach to my relocation. I went and bought 16 feet of wire and a few terminals. while i was at the junk yard i nabbed a positive battery post from a super charged olds? then just ran it to the back. thin over all costed me like 30 bucks and works fine.

out of curiosity....is the miata battery substantially weaker or at all weaker than a normal 240 battery?

cool, im probably gonna pick up a miata battery soon. Seeing as how I have only two speakers, a head-unit, one gauge and a turbo timer...should be more than enough juice to happily supply my electrical system

okay thanks guys,
but i was also going to run an amp and a sub in my car,
and i would like to not relocate my battery but seeing as i might have to, i am preparred for it.
but just curious is there any small batteries that will fit up front, support my sub and amp, front mount intercooler,
and my turbo timer, boost gauge and DVD deck, and start up no problem in the winters?

Please remember that the alternator provides most of the power after the engine has started. The CCA rating will basically give you the "life" rating of the battery. Less CCAs will last a less amount of time.

Mike,

I used the Interstate Miata battery and seemed to startup fine in the winter, for an SR this is.

My ground is on the chassis and I ground the block to the chassis. Done and done. Then again I have my battery located to behind the driver's seat.

I wanted to keep my setup simple, so I used the miata battery. If you ever plan on tracking your car, the officials can pretty particular about how you relocate your battery, and it's a lot of work to do it correctly.

Just make sure its securely mounted and has a master kill switch outside of the car in an easily accessible location.

Wouldn't that throw off the cross weights for optimum weight distribution?

Best place to put it is right where the passenger side rear lower seat cushion is...

In the big scheme of things I'll have like 4 Gallons of oil over behind the passengers side. So, I'd rather do it once than have to remount it behind me later. Also, the battery weighs 15-20 pounds...I'm a lighter guy, I'm sure I'll be alright.

^ wait... you're talking about a miata battery right? ...something small.

yeah but im guessing a direct connection from battery to chassis is more improved... but whatever works for you, as long as it starts I got nothing but love for you.

...I need a battery box :/

Miata, Odyssey, Stock KA. It's all the same really if you're relocating it. I have the medium sized Odyssey, but used to have the Interstate Miata.

Meh the chassis ground vs. direct ground is neither here nor there on which is better it just cleans up the cars wiring and also eliminates that long thick gage wire back to the front of the car.
