aw man i just noticed there's one of those blankets in the trunk. cops slapped one of those abandoned vehicle stickers on it so we had to move it into the dude's garage until i can tow it tomorrow.
here's a teaser of what $300 gets you.

i'm amazed i've owned ... fucking 9 cars now that i think about it, and none of them have ever been a Z. and the pushbutton auto was an option for this car, not sure if i'm happy i don't have it. 3 on the tree should be good fun though. and that polara has a pretty crazy grille, i dig it Quote:
and a 1600 roadster is also on my never ending list of cars i'd like to own for a little while aaaaanyway, it's been 14 hours of miserable hell with all this shit, one fuckup after another. down forums where numbers were stored. keys were not stored where they should be stored. a tow dolly i was supposed to borrow, 30 miles out of my way, turned out to be a useless tow bar. uhaul took two hours to find me a trailer because they wouldn't rent me a dolly because "you can't use a tow dolly with a rwd car". once the trailer was finally picked up, it was rush hour. once on the road, roads to the highway were closed, and i wound up driving in circles in fucking Forest Park, STL's enormous knockoff of Central Park. tow cables snapped. tires were dry rotted and useless. feelings were hurt. fries were ordered, and came as regular instead of curly. penises were drawn on "rate our service" survey cards. cities lay in ruins. anyway here's a dirty old sedan in my garage. check it, came with a free mexican blanket that looks like The Dude's robe i like how this car has the thousand yard stare of a vietnam sniper. "the horror... the horror"

after messing with some shoddy wiring, the car now cranks, but it KEEPS CRANKING after i take the key out, until it feels like stopping. supposedly the issue is either the ignition switch or ignition relay. autozone doesn't sell the relay but they do sell the switch for ten bucks, so today is new ignition switch and spark plug wires, because there's a wasp nest on the wires and i don't want to clean it off, i'd rather just throw it away.

1950 ford coupe. Or 1950 mercury coupe. Drop it chop, it and flat black it. Mmmmmmmm. I plan on getting one. Then get a custom chrome bumper n take all the rest of the chrome off besides front n rear bumper. Plus you can find them in really good condition with a nicer v8 already in them. Been a dream of mine for a while now.
I'm huge on non-muscle old school American cars then beasting the shit out of them. Valiant being one of them. So great choice my friend I hope everything starts going well for you. Make sure u start a build thread or keep this one goin. I'm VERY into this thread. And not one hater yet! Last edited by Dr. Acula; 03-03-2009 at 04:37 PM.. |

rad, zach braff digs it
update: installed new ignition switch. i now get how easy hotwiring used to be, all the wires you'd need are labeled and prominently displayed on the back of the switch, which is easily accessed under the dash. ignition switch did NOT cure starter woes, so it's the starter relay. while searching for a cheap relay, i came across Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto which has all the oe replacement parts i need for next to nothing. i was going to keep replacing parts one at a time until it ran proper, but to save on shipping, i'm just going to buy a huge load of parts at once. i just ordered: -cap -rotor -points -condenser -coil resistor -coil -starter relay -fuel filter -air filter all this comes out to about $70 shipped. in addition i've spent $30 on plug wires and the ignition switch. i've got fuel, i've got it cranking, so i just need the damn spark and we should see something.

Sweet man! I'm gonna bookmark that auto parts place. I'll be sure to use the website when I land me a 1950 ford/mercury coupe
haha zach Braff, I got it. Alot of people ask me if I ever saw scrubs, because of my forum name/ xbox gamertag. I'm not going to get into why I have this as my name. However, I am really stoked that your getting closer to your goal. I've never worked on older cars really. So this is a huge interest to me. I definately think it's going to benefit me. When I plan on making my street rod. Good to see a import fan also having an old school taste too keep it going dood! |
