two road trips the other guy at the wheel has fallen asleep on me, forcing me to grab the wheel. and i've dozed off driving, too. it's amazing we can actually do that. we have no survival instinct for this kind of thing, because it's relatively new.

skittles green apple always works for me. The sourness and the actual chewing wakes me up. Coffee And energy drinks fills me up causing frequent restroom stops. Glad your ok! I'll buy your tails. Lol

I have a question: that video feed wasn't edited or cut in anyway right? Because it wasn't even 2 minutes long before drove off from a standstill and crashed. Usually when I get sleepy driving, it happens 30mins+ from when I actually start driving.

I must be bred to be a redneck truck driver, because i've never fallen asleep at the wheel. I've been miserably tired a few times...but even after driving 18hrs straight multiple times I haven't had any close calls...i guess i am lucky!

I can't speak for the original poster, but when this happened to me, I don't even remember being tired. I remember leaving my friend's house and then the next thing I remember is being taken out of the car by the Firemen/Paramedics. Judging by the shortness of the video, seems like he didn't even have time to realize he was getting sleepy.

Glad your ok... this same thing almost happened to me on I-5 on the way down to Socal..was running off 3 hours of sleep and drifted off the side of the road into a ditch.

If you are tired, just pull over and take a nap. Not worth risking your life...

Have to agree though, you definitely were carrying some speed. You were swerving a bit in your lane too, prior to the crash. While it's great you survived, imagine if you had hit an oncoming vehicle?

I had a buddy who fell asleep and got t-boned pretty badly.. luckily like you, nobody was hurt.

Not sure of the speed limit on that particular street, but do most Zilvians drive that fast on local streets?

What happens after the initial impact with the wall? I imagine the cameras were still rolling? Were there any nearby witnesses? And what was the commentary of the paramedics as they first saw the carnage?

fuck that som crazy shit man. good thing God gave ur guardian angel an approval not to take you. i also fell asleep goin back home from the bay area on 5-Freeway between Lerdo and Bakersfield. this was like 1 AM and i was goin about 80-85mph. thank God those little bumps on the side of the road woke me up
