Im new to this form and the 240 scene so dont bash on me . I picked up a 93 240sx with a blown engine as a project car and i came across a 96 s14 ka. Ive looked up what i needed to do to swap it in. So far ive come down to s13 intake manifold, exhaust manifold and dizzy on to s14 engine. and also what about he vacuum lines and egr I need to pass smog. Sorry for the noob question . and the guy is selling the engine with 168k and no proof that it runs just smog papers how much do you guys think i should pay? Thanks in advance

I fell into the same problem. The vacuum hose arrangement is different in the back of the engine. There is 1 connector in the OBD2, Where as 2 in the OBD1. The power steering pump is different, but you can bolt on the old one off the bad motor. The distributor has only 1 connector in the OBD2, the OBD1 has 2. The vale cover is a different shape/gasket. What I do not know is if you need a different ECU to run the engine. I am searching that, right now.

I fell into the same problem.
I helped my nephew get a Black Hatch, but it had a blown engine. I gave him one I had in the garage. Come to find out; it's from a 95 and up 240. Now I am running into all sorts of differences problems. I could look around and find a OBD1 KA or rebuild my old KA, but why? I know most of us would use this engine failure as "the excuse" for a SR/RB/VQ/LS swap, but the truth is, we are still just trying to make it look good, Shoes, body, and paint. Now I'm just saying, that if you go to the local junk yard and buy a used KA24DE it will probably be from a 95 and up car "OBD2" motor. So there should be a good wright up about a stock swap by now. But I don't see a dam thing out there. |
