I fell into the same problem. The vacuum hose arrangement is different in the back of the engine. There is 1 connector in the OBD2, Where as 2 in the OBD1. The power steering pump is different, but you can bolt on the old one off the bad motor. The distributor has only 1 connector in the OBD2, the OBD1 has 2. The vale cover is a different shape/gasket. What I do not know is if you need a different ECU to run the engine. I am searching that, right now.

I fell into the same problem.
I helped my nephew get a Black Hatch, but it had a blown engine.
I gave him one I had in the garage.
Come to find out; it's from a 95 and up 240.
Now I am running into all sorts of differences problems.

I could look around and find a OBD1 KA or rebuild my old KA, but why?

I know most of us would use this engine failure as "the excuse" for a SR/RB/VQ/LS swap, but the truth is, we are still just trying to make it look good,
Shoes, body, and paint.
Now I'm just saying, that if you go to the local junk yard and buy a used KA24DE it will probably be from a 95 and up car "OBD2" motor.
So there should be a good wright up about a stock swap by now.
But I don't see a dam thing out there.
