Power Steering with Hicus
Hello, I have a question about the power steering. My '91 180 is leaking PS fluid. I did some research and could not find a whole lot of info on repairing the Hicas system setup. What I mean specifically is if I wish to change the power steering lines, where would I get the presure lines for the hicus ps system? If possible not from dealership, but if not thats cool... i guess. thanks

Which part of the lines do you need? I've got a rear subframe out with the back softlines intact.
Other than that, good luck.

Well i am thinking front, as that is where it seems to be leaking.I should be more specific with my vocabulary. What I am actually looking for is the hoses, at least I hope that is all I am looking for. I am not sure yet what is leaking. Haven't been able to pin point the leak and i was just doing some pre-lim work... for all I know it could be the pump. What seems to be happening is that it may be spraying up ward and then running down all over the place. I might have to cut the outter sponge layer that surrounds the hose in order to find the leak. So long story short what hoses should be used when replacing them on the s13 that features HICAS? Oh and any suggestions on fixing the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if it's one of your softlines ( from your reservoir, to and from the pump), it should be easy to find. Just put a piece of carboard under your car, start her up, and have someone turn the wheels. If there is enough pressure, it should start leaking a bit and you should be able to locate the crack if there is one.
I know mine once leaked because the hose clamp from the feed line on the pump was loose. Just tightened that and it's fine now. Keep us updated.

Alright, I think I may have found the part that is leaking but I need to know if it is the return hose or the feeder hose and where to get the hose, keep in mind it is Hicas, I don't know if that makes a difference with this hose.

I totally forgot about this thread, but I think i t worth while to note that it would be appear that the north american part and the japanese parts are not the same. I found out the hard way and now I have the north american version of the HICAS power steering hose sitting in my trunk. I ended up just going to a shop ant the replaced the hose on the existing set up.
