hey guys just thaught id throw my new build. i know its not a silvia, but most of the chasis and suspension is.

. anyway here it is.

Europe's First V8 ae86. now some people will like the idea some will hate it, but ive always had a thing for the v8 engine and the ae86, so why not combine the two? this is my build over the last few months, getting ready for Prodrift/D-rift, and time attack, + hopefully a few rounds abroad!

basicaly starting off with a trueno ae86,
1uzfe 8cyl, 32v Quadcam, have to keep her toyota!
4 stud s13 rear axle, to keep same wheel fitment
s13 front lca's,hubs,brakes,coils.
supra w58 gearbox.

this is what i started off with.

started to trip her down back in january 08, to see what i have to work with?

then cut up the back end, choped the floor and the chasis mount for the panhard rod!

the s13 rear axle.

recond the axle, and new pollybush kit

new custom belhousing for w58 to fit the 1uz.

new custom flywheel. to fit 1uz, but to take a 3sgte clutch.

new stage 4 racing clutch:

new tension rods

i havent worked on it since febuary 08, but i took it out there in september and got stuck in. so heres the update.

this is how I left it in febuary!

starting to mount the s13 rear axle, just lining it up.

measured and set the front mounts and welded on the plates.

started to measure rear end mounts.

then fabricated rear u beam mount. And fixed to chasis

welded in gussets to chasis leg for extra strength.

new rose jointed rear arm set.

bolted up s13 rear axle, fits sweet.

turned her right way up and started on the engine.

the itbâ€™s arrived

the engine, what I started with, a old v8 out of a soarer.

and what I made of it, built up on stock internals, new belts and gaskets,
ae101 itbâ€™s, custom manifold adaptor, stainless exhaust manifolds, and I polished
the rocker covers, pretty standard but good for 300+bhp.

itbâ€™s, pure sex,,,,,,

throttle linkage

custom flywheel, with auto ring gear. Takes 3sgte clutch kit.

now to mount the engine, at first glance it doesnâ€™t look like its gona fit
but when we measured her up, its pretty tidy. i didnâ€™t cut the bulk head, we bet it back a few inches which was more than enuf, just cut the tunnel,

The cut tunnel for the big supra box.

I then fabricated the cross member,

test fit with lotus box, have a better box coming from England

new ls400 front mounted baffled sump.

a few late nights but itâ€™ll be worth it.

engine in, at last,

I used mounts similar to the mk2 escort, to make
things easyr and cheeper to replace, also stiffer,

now to fabricate the tunnel. I decided to make it out of one piece sheet metal,
just to keep it looking neat
Tacked in place

and finished

seem welded the whole shell, underneath, inside, and in the engine bay, also patched up any rust, and gusseted the chasis in a few places for strength,

right, had big problems with the rear suspension, my original idea was to get ae86 coilovers so I wouldnt have to fabricate turrets in the rear, and I could change the end to suit the axle, so I bought a set, but when fittling them I relised they didnt fit???, it turns out they were for a turreted ae86.. Like ??? ???. Anyway, in the end if I was going to have to turret the rear end I was going to do it properly, so I orderd set of s13 rear coilovers, and got to work.

coilovers bolted in, lookin sweet. Man the more I do on this the more I wana drive it,

Since I have the s13 rear end, which gives me about 30mm extra track each side,
I have decided to put the s13 front end in aswell. Lca’s, hubs, brakes, coilovers, and using the ae86 top mounts, and ae86 tension rods. Makes for about 40mm extra track each side on the front end, and a very big upgrade in brakes. Also the s13 steering arm is about an inch shorter, but with a ae86 manual rack and the extra track, you get a whole lot of lock.

Striped down the front end ready for new set up.

here you can see the difference in length between the two lca’s, and the length of the steering arm.

massive difference between the brakes, huge vented rotors and much bigger callipers.

mounting the s13 lca. And hub assembly.

New coilovers and new adj tension rods.

Steering lock first attempt.

few minor adjustmens later

And now I am very happy with the angle of lock.

just wondering why the s13 suspension and diff? it seems like Europe loves putting s13 suspension and diffs in everything.

thanks guys,

i got the k-sports for free, good for mocking it up and rolling it around the shop. ill get tein for it befor she hits the track, i put the s13 suspension in mainly to keep the wheel stud fitment for my ae86 wheels. all that stuff is just mocked up, i have new brakes, and arms, and i have to powder coat some of the stuff. ive just primed the chasis, and i wana get it to paint before the weekend. ill get more pics up soon.

For the rear arm linkages, I have the same ones.... What company makes them? Are they any good? I have been to the track with them 3 times and a lot of autox's so far so good. Any ideas?

S13's and S Chassis in general have a lot of steering angles and a lot of mods for more steering angle.... S13 cause its cheap.....

thanks guys, lookin at some of the sweet builds on here is makin me wana get my s**t together and get it finished.

not 100% sure but think there called motoria! there prety good, there rosejointed and i got them real cheep.

Hell yes! I wanted to put a 1UZ in my S14 but I could not afford it (because of all the fab work that would be needed). Where did you get your bell housing and ITB set up from? I know there are a few places in Australia that make adapter plates, but I've haven't seen a full bell housing.

Looks great. I love the s13 suspnesion stuff. Thats great, and a v8 in that car will be dangerous, so tons of fun.
