The Spurs simply put too many non-scorers on the floor.
Bowen, Udoka, Kurt Thomas (despite his 9 pts tonight), even Michael Finley at times, Jacque Vaughn, Oberto. They might be able to knock down the occasional open shot, but they do not create opportunities for themselves of others. That affords a team that has both good individual defenders and good rotations to shut them down for long periods, which is what New Orleans is doing. On the flip side, Paul is making Bowen completely useless and exposing Parker as not all that great on defense. West was indefensible last night, and even tonight, when he's off offensively, he's dominating the glass with Chandler. Mo Pete and Peja, unlike their counterparts Finley and Bowen, are actually hitting shots and are legitimate offensive threats. The Hornets have built their team well- it's not just the luck of drafting Chris Paul. They've drafted well even in the middle of the first round (David West, Julian Wright) and made shrewd trades and signings (s/t for Chandler, s/t for Peja, MLE deal for Mo Pete, Bobby jackson for Mike James and Bonzi Wells). Pretty good use of all their resources. |

Kobe is officially the MVP. The press conference was
great. "Kobe, would you like to retire a Laker?" -Absolutely I guess the MVP race wasn't as close as the media made it to be. |

whoa...that was a damn close game. I can't believe how crappy LeBron, Pierce and Allen's game were.

I can't believe Boston only beat them by 4 with Lbj going 2/18 with 10 TOs. That's not exactly a great game by the celtics. I think if they can keep the game close, cleveland has a great chance to win.

It's official, he has the trophy, and he is either a great actor, or was murderously intense...
Now it's game time.

anyone else glad it's the summer olympics this summer?
meaning when there should be NO basketball to watch for 6 months, we get to watch the dreamteam in the meantime?

Yeah I've been trying to find out who will be on the team, so far not many people are confirmed. Anyone know the schedule of games? We should start a different thread when the time is right. |

For the sake of the Pistons, they'd better pray to whomever they believe in that Chauncey Billups is not seriously injured

Here's something that's been on my mind. I love how nasty CP3 is. At his what, 4th year in the league, he's already doing small and crafty things that a veteran does to gain any advantage he can for his team. He's also a nasty competitor on the court, I love that.

loving the spurs/hornets game
dont really care who wins, but this battle between parker and paul is fun to watch. Hopefully they go to game 7 and tire each other out before they play the Lakers. |
