S14 Fogs help plz
I have a base model S14. Today I put the Fog Light relay into the fuse box. and got the S14 SE switch for the fog lights. Everything plugged in correctly, yet my fogs wont turn on. I already checked the fuse. Any ideas??
Base model -> fogs should only be 3 items: Fogs, relay, switch. Am I missing anything? |

I wired mine super simple-like. See what you do is take the two wires hooked up to the foglights and hook them up to the corner lights. When you turn on parking lights they go on and you're good to go.

Relay....hmmm not much into electronics. Is it a switch? All I know is if you do what I said and hook up the fog light wires to the wires powering the corner lights then you're done. Just make sure to hook up the positive with positive and negative with negative. Also be careful not touching wires when the lights are on cuz then you'll blow a fuse like me...yay!

I do not know what you speak of. There are the harnesses for foglights on base and SE models....yes I know that. The SE's have a switch for the foglights do they not? SO here's where I thought...well since there is no foglight switch hooked up to the wire then...did it my way. I don't argue with the route taken as long as I get to the destination fast and without losing anything.

are there any current issues when wired to the corners? Also if you use the available wire harness, how would you control when they go on or off besides a stand alone switch?

i would definately not recommend wiring it into the corners.
i used the corner lights to trigger a relay to turn on the lights. no switches...fogs come on with parking lights, low beams, and high beams. im sure theres a number of other ways to go about it though. |

The problem with what you're doing is it can catch on fire..drawing too much current out of a thin wire. But it's not like you care anyways..that's why you did it that way.

K i finally found my 12v tester. This is what I did.
Took relay out. 12v tester into where relay plugs INTO. CHECK. POWER!! Plug relay back in. Go to front where the harness goes into the Fog lights. NO POWER!! I was pondering...so I took out the H3 light bulb, took a wire and hooked up the light bulb to my corner light (i unplugged the corner light). Put another wire into the harness for the ground and grounded it to my car. NO LIGHT!! Unless I'm doing something wrong w/ the H3 bulb, I'm guessing both relay and the bulb?! One more thing, H3 bulbs are weird, they don't have a ground going directly to the light, so I just need a power going to it right? The ground from the harness would just go to metal on the body of my car... One more thing...if i need a relay, does Radio shack sell these relays cheaper than an OEM from Nissan? Anyone know? |

I checked there, there were 4 relays there already, no where to plug in another one...any ideas? I'm thinking it may be a relay, and I'm going to go try getting a new one :/

There are two relays on Kouki models only. One actually powers the foglamps and resides in the kick panel, the other controls low/high operation and is under the hood.
Zenki model S14s have only one relay, under the hood in the fusebox. In order to fully have them operational you need the relay, switch, and the fuse under the hood. Usually it's not in place. Wiring them to the corners is the stupidest idea I've ever heard of. The fogs can draw up to 12A by themselves, the parking lamp circuit is only fused to 15A so it's easily possible to burn down the circuit, or blow the switch.

my harnesses were cut when i got my foglights so all i did was go to autozone and pick up a 4 channel wireless remote w/ box so u can turn it on without even worrying about that many wires. all you need to do is plug it straight to ur battery and everything is there. just mount it and then connect it to your foglights. and then you have this cool JDM apc remote to go with your keys

Shameless plug... http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...0&page=2&pp=30 If Nissan was trying to keep costs down, then why in the hell did they change all the harness plugs & stuff between 95-96 & 97-98? Seems like a silly way to run a business..... ID

I am having issues with my fog lights as well. I have a Kouki and didn't have them stock on the car. I bought a pair of Kouki fog lights from a wrecked car. I bought the relay for under the hood, and I just found out where the second relay in the kick panel goes. Does anyone have a Nissan part number for that relay or can I go to RadioShack and buy one? Thanks.

Now when you you wire your fogs to your parking lights do you actually see light output coming from them when you drive or do you just notice the yellow glow when you look at the car. They seem to be greatly underpowered. I suggest to anyone even thinking about doing it this way at least correct it, get a realy and use the parking ligh wire for a trigger switch NOT A POWER WIRE!
PS your car is going to look like my avitar if your not careful and change it!
