i have a 5770 and a 650w powersupply. i don't think it's needed, but if i want to get another 5770 later, it would be capable of cross firing them w/o getting a new power supply. plus, whats the difference in price, 20-30 from 500w-600w?

wow that must have set you back at least 1500? but nice setup. thats what i would call a "budget setup" but it still cost money. you still have some premium parts. what case are you running.

Looks Good.. I have that processor and it PWNS.. but, I think for a few bucks more you can go x6? PSU dont get a cheap brand... If you have a compusa near you id buy "Ultra", I believe they come with lifetime warranty, you can just walk in and get it replaced.. GO with the GIGABYTE, has better ratings.. Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard Review - AMD 770 - Final Thoughts and Conclusion - Legit Reviews

NEWEGG NEWEGG NEWEGG... ALL DAY... look at their cpu section, they have a cpu w/mobo section, excellent deals on both AMD/Intel..Id go AMD, you cant beat their pricepoint/out of the box performance.

newegg would be the place to buy all my computer parts if i was not in ca. i still shop quite often from them, and i can't complain because they have great prices and even though they charge tax, i get most things in 2 days.

I am running a Antec 300 case (cheap case but i will do some mods to it). I will probably add another fan on top of the case. I really like this case just because it is very easy to hide a lot of wires (other cheap cases you would hide your wires in the hdd, optical drive bay, or floppy).

the two SSDs cost $750each retail, but I got hooked up (I bought both drives for fairly cheap and my friend gave me the hx1000 PSU for free).

Newegg is where I would buy most of my parts. if not, tiger direct is also a good place. for anyone who is planning to build a i7 930 set-up, try and buy your processor from Micro Center, they cost $200 and is in a retail box.

sad thing is about this, I spoil my computer more than my car. T__T

Here is more information about the SSDs once I RAID them to 0: (this is what type of performance I would get)

personally I wouldn't raid0 SSDs, because you lose TRIM support. You DO get insane performance though

edit: oops looks like I'm late to the party http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardwar...rim-for-raid/1 Do carry on

if you don't need a desktop in the next year and a half, i would also hold off for the new intel 2011 socket chips are coming out end of 2011 also. i was going to build another i7 930 setup, but i'll just wait on that. i already have a i7 860 desktop and a i7 930 in the works, both are just mild setups.

I am trying to get out of the 775 socket. The motherboard i am getting (ASUS P6X58D Premium) will be able to use the new i7 32nm processors that will be coming out, so I am pretty much set for a couple years.

Once I build my new one, my old computer is going to be a media computer for the TV in the living room.

if you are talking about the new Sandy Bridge microarchitecture, they all use a new socket, either LGA1155 in the mainstream or LGA2011 in the high-end

Unfortunately, right now, all the Intel platforms are dead ends

oh naw, it's the same processor but the making the processor smaller (which does the same speed as a regular 45nm processor). The processor will take less power and won't run as hot, therefore, making it able to overclock more.

I haven't really kept up-to-date in the processor market, so I'll do a little more research on that new processor coming out.

ah yes, Intel did make a dieshrink of the Nehalem microarchitecture (codename Westmere) from 45nm to 32nm. sorry about that.

sandy bridge looks interesting, im also intrigued as to how well AMD's bulldozer chips are gonna perform

1on1 get the H50, I saw a couple of graphs about performance between the two, the extra C degree or two drop that you gain with the H70 isnt worth the extra 40 bux

also performance-pcs and frozencpu have good prices on things

only thing that concerns me is that sandybridge memory controller will support quad channel memory, but only 1 dimm socket for each channel. i hope intel thinks 4gb dimm sticks will be cheap, because how is that going to be better than tri channel, 6 dimm slots of current x58 chipset.

@s13shaka yes and true, I am reconsidering it and doing a little more research on it. I seen a couple mods that people do, and I still wonder if the pump noise, on the H50, has been better on the H70.

I just processed my order on my motherboard (ASUS PX658D Premium and EVGA GTX 470) about two hours ago, and I hope to get it by wednesday.

I just decided to get the GTX470 since it was only a few dollars more than the original GTX465 that I was going to purchase.

Is an SSD so much more advantageous than a HDD? was checking some ssd for my main drive (OS, programs like gibs cam) around 60GB add 1XX$ to my build. So want to make sure it worth it.

SSD will make your computer run much more better. the big advantage is their read/write speed compared to regular hds.

here are two videos that will make you decided to go SSD.

YouTube - WD Raptor vs Intel X25-M, programs
YouTube - SSD Follow Up OCZ Vertex 60GB versus WD Raptor 160GB 10000RPM Hard Drive Linus Tech Tips

I'll post a video once my computer is built tomorrow (after I install all my games and programs).

yea SSD is worth it, if you have SATA III on your mobo spend the extra 20 bux or so on those SSDs instead of the SATAII ones

read news that by the end of 2010 early 2011 SSDs will be brought down to near $1/gig

I think it's difficult to justify SSD right now if there really is going to be a huge drop in price within a year or so.
I have a pair of 300gig sata velociraptors w/ raid 0 on my work computer.
honestly I can't tell that much difference between that and my home computer using a corsair 256gig ssd
the price difference is huge though

Newegg.com - Corsair P256 CMFSSD-256GBG2D 2.5" 256GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Newegg.com - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

try getting the ssd 355mb read. the crucial can get up to 380s.

raptors 0raid 180mb avg is pretty close to that corsair ssd.
