I have s13 coupe with redtop
There is very hot white smoke coming from shift boot between every shift.
It smells like raw gas and been bothering me for a long time.
it runs and drives fine
any ideas?

do you have your lower shift boots on that are underneath the center console that are supposed to seal off the open trans tunnel hole from the outside of the car?

no leaks

the shifter hole isnt fully sealed but it gets so hot I cant even touch my shifter

Well neither is mine, and sometimes I get a quick little puff of smoke from my radio pocket.and it smells like gear oil all the time. Hot huh? what kind of oil are you using in your trans? Maybe your down pipe is heating up your tranny...

Check the oil level in your transmission.

the owner before my over filled it so i drained extra oil by unplugging the fill hole

I first thought exhaust leak. But, when you said the shifter is hot I have to think your transmission is overheating and burning oil.

Hmm, but u say it drives fine? So no grinding or any other shifting problems at all? Cause if the tranny is over heating ur oil should become way too thin resulting in poor lubrication. I cant imagine one happening without the other

car occasionally grinds 5th and reverse so Im just thinking that syncros out
only time I see smoke is when Im in boost or between shifts...
