350z ECU year matter for smog check?
Hi everyone,
I've recently purchased a 2006 350z with a non-revup motor from a 2003-2004 Z. The older non revup motors do not have variable exhaust valve cams and so do not have the sensor hookups for those. As a result, I have a CEL for those sensors that are nonexistent on the motor I am running. One way I can get rid of all the CEL codes is by replacing my current 2006 ECU with one from a 2003-2004 350z. My question is, would the smog system recognize that the ECU I am running is for a 2003/2004 350z rather than a 2006? I ask because California law does not permit the use of an older motor in a newer car, despite being from the same car. Looking forward to hear what you guys think, thanks! |
