S13 Sr20det in S14 Hot pipe Question
Ok I have a S13 Red Top Sr20det in my 95 S14. I just blew my Turbonetics turbo and going back the stock route. My question is I am getting a S14 T28, and not sure what hot pipe I am going to need to run to my Greddy Front Mount? Anyone have any ideas. Should I get the S14 one or S13 hot pipe.
Picture of my setup right now. |

Sweet, I appreciate it. I have been reading a lot on the forum lately about S14 T28 Journal ball bearing swaps and seems like its going to cost a quite bit of cash. Not pushing me away from the swap beings I need it lol. I need to make a list of the items I need to order, that way I will have everything I need.
S14 T28 Journal bearing to Redtop swap list. 1. S14 T28 Journal Bearing Turbo *Bought* 2. Manifold of choice. (I'm thinking Megan) 3. Downpipe of choice (Beings I have Isis 3" dual tip exhaust I may go Isis, or Megan) 4. Exhaust Turbo Outlet Elbow (Again Isis or Megan) 5. .60 Oil Restrictor (.60 for Journal bearing, .35 for Ball bearing) *atp turbo sells them* 6. Frsports T28 Turbo upgrade installation kit 7. Frsports T28 Staineless Steel Lines with required restrictor *if using this you dont need #3 on the list* 8. S13 Sr20det Hot pipe with Flange 9. Recirculating BOV Either one of these will work Im going for straight bolt on so I am doing the first option. 10. Greddy Reclocked Air intake kit 11. T28 Turbo Reclock Adapter 12. Z32 MAF (Not Necessary but an option if you going for over 280hp) 13. Injectors (If your going over 290hp) 14. Air/Fuel Gauge 15. Some sort of tune 16. Boost Controller (AEM Tru Boost installed) only at 10psi Some things I have so I can skip. Goal is to get it back to stock setup just cleaner. *If anyone has any suggestion or see if I messed up please post* Thank you. Last edited by liveordie72089; 01-24-2013 at 12:14 PM.. Updated your list to what I would get if trying to go straight stock S13 SR. Pretty sure I saved you some cash Also, you could add either an S14 water neck, or DIF/Stance water neck adapter to the list- so you can run your turbine coolant return to the water neck instead of behind the block. GL!

Also, what is Kiss Concept? For the Intake would it be better to go with the S14 intake beings I am using a T28? I already have a Blitz air intake kit but its getting a little old now. For the down pipe and the Exhaust turbo outlet elbow, I have been leaning towards getting the PBM downpipe as its all in one, flex pipe, and wouldnt have to worry about an extra gasket anywhere. I appreciate the help that I am getting. Really saving me money. |

KISS concept is " Keep It Simple Stupid" meaning that you don't have to reinvent the wheel to get where you want to get to. Just go with either stock parts, or just simple stock upgrades like the Megan and Isis parts, thats what I'm doing as well right now. Sorry I couldn't help with what plumbing to use, I'm learning all of this right now as well for my car.

Cotbu, late to the party again!
Don't you have an R33 as well? Anyway, the s14 and s15 turbos have their outlets angled to the front of the engine. So if you use the s13 hotpipe you'll need the reclocking adapters for turbo outlet at least. if your oem s14 turbo comes with the inlet and outlet elbow, get the s14 hotpipe If you're going to use the s13 hotpipe you'll need the reclocking adapter unless you have or purchase the s13 outlets. This is off the top of my head, can't really remember if the s14 intake needs to be reclocked if you use the stock intake elbow. Looks like it should be good either way.

The turbo I am getting is just the turbo. So I will need everything to get it up and running. I was thinking about getting the Greddy reclocked intake system but on the frsport it says for S15 turbo. So I guess I am going to the route of getting the reclock adapters and get the stock s14 parts. That was I can get the S13 hotpipe with hks flange, slap on a hks bov and call it a day. I have never heard of "KISS" Concept. |

See item 13 in your list I added to in my last post. DIF reclock kit... I am running an S13 SR, and my turbine is plumbed like an S14/15 T28... So I had to get a T28 compressor outlet elbow & a DIF reclock kit: DIF 10006 T28 Turbo Reclock Adapter w/ GT28R Style Comp S13 SR Upgrade . It changes the angle of the S14/15 outlet like the one in cotbu's pic to straight up & down to meet the S13 hot pipe... Here is a pic of mine installed that should give you an idea: The inlet reclock is part of the kit and basically does the same thing for the inlet (not pictured b/c I use different inlet piping). PBM stuff is expensive, and great quality too. You can't go wrong w/it. However, there are cheaper ones out there that will serve your purpose (Circuit Sports, etc) just fine if you're on a budget. I run a Blitz SUS LM filter too- fresh filter element is only like 20=30 bucks at FRSport IIRC.

I really appreciate that picture! I understand now and will be ordering that DIF reclock kit. I didnt realize the filters were so cheap so I probably will pick one of them up as well. My intake pipe has oil in it from my blown turbo so I may need to figure something out with that just clean it and double check my maf to make sure it didnt reach the maf. Yeah I see that some stuff from PBM takes some time to get to you so I will probably go the Isis route beings I already have the exhaust. If you get yours done you should post a pic of your engine it looks super clean! |
