Were you able to get away with cutting just the center section between the bends?

With the amount of extra height he has there (Datsun strut towers come up higher than S13/S14's do) I would have cut the ends, not the center. Looks like he cut the center, cause he's a boss.

uhm...FABBING things? i dunno, practice makes perfect.

but it probably wouldn't hurt if you attend welding classes first.

also, good equipment and the right tools are important. for example, i did a sheet metal air duct for a buddys car a few weeks ago, but doing sheet metal work with an angle grinder and the corner of your workbench can get pretty discouraging... i mean it works, but it's nothing i'd show off here

luckily a friend and i are renting a little shop starting july where we can work on our own cars (didn't have a place up to now) so i'm gonna start fabbing a lot more soon, i can't wait.

I made a pretty neat front duct for my intercooler set up. Now everything going through the bumper is forced into the intercooler. Next up is a an upper cooling panel and probably some side ducts to divert air around the tire and towards the brake ducts.

I'll post pictures of it tonight.

No the splitter is from a Nextel Cup COT NASCAR which I havent put on the car yet. IIRC its from Jimmie Johnsons car or something. I dont give a fuck about nascar, its just neat that I have a 1/4 thick carbon fiber splitter for my car.

The duct work is made out of .032 sheet aluminum.

I ended up taking forever to change out my P/S pump after work. So I'll try and get pictures of it tomorrow. I also put on some terry springs to hold the bumper in place so it takes all of 2 seconds to take the bumper off or on, and I'm no longer wasting zipties.

^that Duct looks perty sick, if it was shaped to fit the bumper it would look OE, except for the springs and zip ties lol

also, if i may ask, does anyone know of a place that a lathe, cnc, or any of those that does custom work in Orange County CA? I want to ask them what i need to do get in that line of work, and maybe get something done

It has way more advantages over a standard FMIC - Boost response, cooling effeciency, away from damage, keeps weight down and further back etc etc. As far as I can tell there are no draw backs other than the fact you cant see it (which is a plus for me.) A few weeks ago some kid asked me if I had a side mount haha.

I dont have that issue, intercooler never gets over 100* on the hot side and 92* on the cold side. Its always cold to the touch, even before I made the duct.

Need to relocate my inlet and outlet on the radiator, instead of using the old ones I decided to give this a shot out of some scrap we had lying around.

Didnt turn out too bad

a few cages ive made over the last few weeks.

This is another 240sx s14, its for drifting, its running a 2.5 turbo skyline engine running 400hp. insane.

mitsubuishi colt race car, with full evolution 8 4wd running gear. another cool converion and once again should be stupid quick, engine is good for about 450hp but has yet to be dyno'd.

nice r32 skyline, serious car, its 400bhp, i took it up the road for a spin, ohh my god.:beer:

an old ep71 toyota starlet, once again huge power for such a little car, its running a turbo charged 1.3 ef engine running 300hp. :eyemouth:

this is a crazy MK2 Toyota Mr2 Rallycross car, its in the unlimited class and its getting a very extensive cage, full fia spec multipoint cage and when it leaves my shop the customer is bringing it off to get a full custom carbon/kevlar body.......! it will be running about 600hp and wont be shy.

do most people MIG cages? just wondering because i'm thinking about getting a pre-bent one and tigging it in since i have a tig already. i would rather not go out and buy a mig just for this.

You can do it with either one, just need the right filler rod for DOM tubing which IIRC is just mild steel.

If I ever get around to buying a Mazworx half cage I'm just going to use my mig.

No you don't NEED a mig to do it. I do it with TIG.

I've actually been thinking of making pre-bent cages.. Think there's a market for it?

Yup ER70S-2 would be the right filler rod.

Yes, please. I haven't been able to find any prebent kits for s-chassis cars except for the brokedick racing and mazworx cages.
