My PS2 controllers never last!!
I dunno why, but my ps2 dual shock 2 controllers never last! The one that came with teh system lasted for a while, but now it hits buttons like its possessed. So then I bought a cheap third party controller and it worked for a while, then started the same thing. Then I bought an official sony controller and that worked for a while and it was good. Now that went bad too, its like the calibration of the sticks would act up, and hit buttons on its own too. So I sometimes have to switch between em all or turn back to my PS1 *OG* Duel shock controller.
I dont think its the PS2 cuz i try these controllers on my pc (i got a ps2 controller adapter and the PS2 controllers do the same things)... but I did however put an old "No solder mod chip" when i got it last year. But I dont think that would have anything to do with messing up the controllers.. umm. I bearly play the PS2 that much. I dont know how I could go thru 3 controllers. This bites cuz I just rented Driv3r and my ps2 controllers are screwie and that game wont work with ps1 controllers. and PS2 controllers cost soo freaking much..

Im thinking it could be from a third party DVD remote that plugs into the controller port then you plug the controller thru that. Umm I dunno.

Hm, I've never had a problem with mine. They all work just as well as the day I bought them. I don't own any party games though where you mash the buttons or stick, and I don't throw or abuse them.
I hate going to other peoples house and the stick like, falls down if you let go of it or something. Annoying. |

frustrated!! ugh cuz i wanna play Driv3r soo bad without having to fight the dam controller itself. I guess its like an extra "harder" setting hehe. Maybe Ill take em apart and spray em with electronic cleaner or alcohol.

To recalibrate the analog sticks just push them around in a circle twice (each one) and it will re-center the stick. As for the random button pushing clean out the button things with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. You'll have to take your controller apart to get it good though. Make sure to get it clean cause if it's still dirty it will do it. The buttons on PS2 controllers are analog as well as the sticks so even with a little touch the button registers being pressed. SOCOM has taught me much about controllers and anger management. I'm goin on this controller for about 2 months now.

I've never broken a PS2 controller.
My friend has broken like 4, because he has a tendency to throw them at the floor full force when something doesn't go his way in whatever game we're playing. Maybe back off on the hardware abuse a bit? Those things are expensive (for what they are)! |

umm thanks for the tips kandyflip. I ended up taking the controllers apart and spraying them with Rc car electric motor cleaner (high pressure) on everything and the connectors then even the ports on the ps2 and now I think it works alot better.

just busted out the ps2 for the first time in like a year. played timesplitters 2, good game. my controllers are still working prime but that might be due to the lack of play on them.
