yups...dont use bondo. Its fiber glass, so use fiber glass. Depending on what your doing to it, will depend on what fiber glass to use. If your just smoothing it out, sand down all the paint, then buy one of those resin/fiber hair mixed setup. For big cracks and fractures, do it right and buy the clear resin goo and fiberglass sheets seperate. Again sand the paint off, trim the crack so itll sit flushed against each side, cut a piece of fiberglass sheet to cover it, use a paint brush and lay the resin on the fiberglass.

yes.....kitty hair.

and, skim coat of some gooooood shit to get it strait as glass, like Rage extreme or something.
not Bondo brand wal-mart shit.

use the LONGEST sanding block possible, that will help insure straightness.

416 EVERCOAT putty. KittyHair is total overkill if all your doing is filling scratches. KittyHair is used to reinforce and mend cracks or small holes in fiberglass. Use multiple thin coats, rather then one thick coat toprevent air bubbles.

spoty putty is ehhhhh. it never really hardens since its only a 1 part filler. if its just scratches like 300 grit sandpaper you can just spray epoxy primer over it, hell the clear coat will even fill in 300 grit scratches. how bad of scratches are they. or what.

hey all you need is to take a DA sander with some 320 grit sand paper and sand down the scratches and the entire bumper..NO MATTER WHAT you are going to have to do this any ways so the primer will stick to the bumper. I've been doing body work and painting for a few years now if you need more help on what exactly todo pm me ill help you out. good luck

Tips: don't use bondo on a fiberglass bumper (as afore mentioned)

If you insist on using bondo use as little as possible.

Question: If your dad has been doing paint/bodywork for 25years.. why are you asking US for tips and not him?

spot putty is exactly what you should be using; your dad is correct.
Body filler (bondo brand) is for worked metal surface. Although bondo brand body filler blows balls. Use Evercoat Z-Grip body filler, best on the market.

... how big is it

if its like a tiny ass dent then yeah just get it down to bare metal and use the metal glaze. If its bigger than like 2 inches or w/e use filler. Evercoats the good shit.

remember MORE is better when it comes to bondo! slather it EVERYWHERE! have a dent? DONT WORRY, bondo it!

also, after bondoing, primer the car and leave it like that for a long time and just tell everyone you are getting a real paintjob soon, different colors of primer will get you the ladies.

All dents can be pulled out and repaired. You just dont fill in dents with body filler. that's not what it's for. You use a stud gun, then get a slide hammer to grab ont he stud and pull it out, tap around the area with special hammers. if done correctly your dent would look like it didn't exsit. You can also get it repaired through PDR (paintless dent removal/repair).

Body filler is only use to cover up metal work.
