crank pulley question

Im about to be pulling my engine to remove my lower front cover to replace the oil pressure valve and replace my head gasket and studs. Through my research so far Ive not gotten a clear way to remove the crank pulley without messing time up or destroying it. Does any one have a descriptive way to go about this or a link maybe. Thanks ahead for any help provided.

I don't understand the problem here? Pull your pulley off first before you put your engine at top dead center.

Or have it at top dead center, put it in 5th gear and take off crank pulley.

Is that the way youre supposed to do it? lol The fsm is so unclear and alot of people are just breaking the shit out of them to take them off. According to my pals over on ka-t.org they say to use impact so Im gonna try that.
