So instead of getting a used starter I was thinking about having mine rebuild so I know it will last. I've found a local place that will do it for $100, but all I said was its for a 92 nissan 240sx... Do i need to try to explain to the guy that its for an sr20det which isnt even available in america, or just bring him the starter and let him rebuild it? I dont know how to rebuild a starter so I dont know if he will need specific parts and needs to know it is for an sr20 and how he will find these parts? Any help is a appreciated

Just take the starter to them. They'll have the parts they need.

Any shop can do it and will have the necessary parts.

+1^ I just took mine to a local shop told them what it went in to but explained to them it's from a different motor,they had it done in 4 hours.
