Why does it matter if someone bumps an old thread? I used to live off that road where the accident occurred. This is the first time I've heard of the story so I found it interesting seeing that I've driven that same road hundreds of times. I can see the other view point....but if it's something that doesn't interest you then simply ignore it and move on, right? I guess if my profile becomes locked then I must have been wrong lol ;P

This is so Sad
So I read this thread early this year and was saddened by the deaths of 3 young people.Anyways I was talking to a friend of mine in Sacramento he owns a Stock 92 240 coupe Coil overs and Brembos all around .I hadnt talked to him in about a year cause i lost all my contacts on my phone.I went by his work place and He told me that he was under investigation , and that he was the prime suspect in a car accident. I said WTF? He went on and described how he and the his friends went for a drive in the hills. He said they were just crusing and then the WRX sped off . He was trailing the WRX and lost sight of it.He also mentioned that he was not racing ,or drifting . less than five minutes later he pulls up to the accident scene.Call dials 911 there was a Lady who lived close by already there at the scene,She was the prime witness ,cause she saw my friend pull up later minutes after the accident. This is where the cops started to question him and imply that they were drifting and that he hit the wrx and caused them to loose control.Anyways he was held for questioning ,wich is normal .3 people died he was distraut and the cops are accusing him .Anyways his car was impounded and they cut a piece of bumper to try and match paints, friend had a scuff mark on it ,confiscated his phone. He said one cop said his car was moddified for street racing and that his tires were not street legal,he assured them it was bone stock and that he had DOT Slicks and that the other car was way faster even with four people in it ,and also said that 4 wheel drive Subarus cant drift ,Cops were yelling in his face and even thought one of em was going to punch him. They released him 12hrs later. They served a warrant on him the following monday took all computers and racing magazines ,even Option DVDs.They inspected his car ,even smogged it .He got his car back ,and still waiting for his stuff to be returned.I told him Its a small price to pay,He said he knows that ,and misses his buddies ,But those three young people and their families wish they could have their lives back.Sad... Learn from this people........

IMO Zilvia is way soft on this thread.
Unless there was a gun involved every person in that car made a concious decision to get in it. I like that everyone is blaming the driver for the deaths when everyone in that car decided to get in the car themselves. And how did passengers eject themselves from the vehicle with seatbelts on? The more people that pass away driving like jackasses on public roads the more abundantly clear it will be to everyone else that behind the wheel you are not invincible. I am thankful the out of control subaru didn't harm anyone else in it's trajectory(walker, bikers, someone pulled over with a flat, downed motorcyclist, someone backing out of there driveway, your family member or close friend) as it would have killed them too. On the bike I have a hard enough time avoiding idiots that don't know how to drive responsibly much less people doing their best to drive irresponsibly. If it was my tree they crashed into I'd be sueing right now for property damage. I could say something meaningful about learning from this and not letting it be in vain but as I type this at least one person who knows about this incident is getting ready to go hit the canyons and possibly on the same damn road. +1 Why hasn't this thread been locked yet? |

I rarely drive my car over the speed limit, even if I have a mad dorifto car, accidents happen and I never want to be the cause of one.
Thoughts go out to the driver and to his friends who have fallen. That's a heavy burden to bare when you get out of that alive. Good friend of mine was hot dogging his integra type r back in the day on the way to mammoth for a vacation, tried to pass a car in a no passing zone, went head on with a truck and killed his girlfriend. He has since moved away from california and has a wife and a few children. But I bet a day doesn't pass where he isn't reminded he's responsible for someone elses death, especially someone he loved.

"The driver was also airlifted to the medical center, where he was treated and released, Brown said."
this sounds like a Nick Hogan kind of incident, chances are this driver isn't going to get off soo easily as nick hogan did. he may have survived the crash, but he's gonna have a lift time of guilt from killing his friends. which is why, if your going to drive stupid, only do it on a track |
