SR20DET Turbo upgrade questions

So my t25 decided to quit on me and I have decided to go with a different turbo and make some more power.

I was thinking about getting the Tomei Arms m8270 or the m7960.

I just wanted to ask if anyone runs them but with a stock head (no cams mostly) I have been looking all over and everyone I come across has cams or fully built bottom end. I'm not trying to make very much 325 max.

If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated!

Go with the M7960, just remember to do supporting mods.

I was researching the same thing on here last week. There's lots of information about both kits, but not with out a built motor.

I basically decided on a T28R from the S15 Spec-R, used they're cheap and new they're cheaper; it also supports my HP goals (300ish). The good thing about the TOMEI is that it's not a BB turbo, so it's rebuildable. The price difference of the 2 will allow for $$ to do basic fuel management and injector upgrades.

GL, do some searching on other SR forums as well.

If you're looking for 325 max dont get either. The 7960 is a 20g and the 8270 is a 60-1.
If you think you might want a bit more than 325 but not a lot more get the 20g.

Yeah you're honestly better off going with a 2871. With the money you save you could do a z32 mafs, 550's and an Enthalpy rom tune.

Go with the 2871R, get some decent cams, I recommend the HKS 264 step1 they are drop ins. Then get a PFC or a Haltech 500. If you are going to change or tweak anything in the future there is no point in a rom tune in my opinion. Just do it right. Invest now so you don't have to invest more later. You can probably pick up a used PFC for cheap too. If you need help with remote tuning I can help you with that or just get fc logit and an wideband. Either way a good timing map is all you're really paying for at a dyno. But if you aren't too sure on tuners in your area I recommend getting a custom tailored map then going to the dyno for the final touch ups on the fuel map. Also go with Denso high impedence drop ins on injectors. You only need 740cc for up to 400 whp if the car is tuned right.

The other option is go top mount and get a 50 trim T04E .60 ar with the .48 ar t3 turbine. Standard garret gear but will make as much power as a 2871R (usually more) and if you keep the stock IM it will spool up faster.

Vids on my site of a car with this setup. Made insane HP with just drop in 264 step 1 HKS cams, FMIC, PFC with one of the maps I did for it and a 50 trim. We did 330 whp on a dyno dynamics with no lag at only 1 bar...
