S14 SR20DET issues

Hi guys,

My car has been behaving weirdly recently and would like to see if anyone has any input on it.

Yesterday as I was driving, the car would stall suddenly when I clutch in to change gear, managed to crank it over and resume but it seems like there is a loss of power and car would jerk quite violently. Managed to reach home and left it till the next morning and when I fired it up, the rpm wouldn't stabilize and starts bouncing up and down and it stalls. Cranked it another time and gave it a little gas for awhile and everything's all good again.

Plugged in the ECUtalk and checked that there was a code 21 (Ignition signal) and code 12 (Air Flow). The previous owner removed the Air Flow Meter so I'm not running one and hence the fault code. Would that also throw out code 21?

Could it possibly be the ignitor chip that is causing the problem? This situation first happened 2 weeks back and I thought it was the fuel filter so I got that replaced and has been running ok till yesterday.

Previous owner also installed a HKS FCON Vpro, would any wiring issues cause this to happen too?

Thanks in advance
