Word, a properly maintained car w/ the right driving habits can do way over EPA estimates.

My average milage for today: 32.6 all city, tons of coasting in neutral to achieve this though.

ooooh you have a scangauge. i want one but its not obd1 compatible.

ive kept fuel logs on my ka since november 07, avg 22 to 27mpg. new o2 sensor does alot if its bad. ac doesnt take that much mpg if you drive normal, like .5 to 1mpg for me.
you want more mileage? get a tune on a stock ka. i hear you can get something like 35 mpg with a tune. stock kas run rich, tune = more power and less gas . of course its got to be in good condition beforehand

i got 32 mpg last tank!!

442 miles on the tank!!

and only put in a little over 13 gallons!!

ka-t with stock t25

biggest improvement on gas mileage for me was taking off the clutch fan and putting on a lightweight flywheel

Guys,
What did you guys get 26+mpg? I use 91Octane gas from 76. Shift ~2400rpm, top speed @ 70mph, SUPER gentle acceleration with very minor traffic city & Hwy drive. I gets 25.9mpg. This is done with new fuel filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires, K&N drop in filter and GReddy Ti-C exhaust.

I installed the Sun Voltage System GT and gain 1mpg. As a result, I have 26.9mpg for the best record. (For ppl. who interested in Sun voltage system, I'd suggest the MR version. I've tested that and feel the same as the GT except to have alittle more respone on the low end. Same gas milage gain).

i honestly think its just luck of the draw and how the car was cared for before you got it. you might baby the heck out of it and take great care of it now, but that isn't going to undo over 100,000 miles (for most of us) of damage being done before you got it.

on the flipside of that, i have never compression tested mine, it has a nasty oil leak, and has just a basic tune-up but still gets great mileage. i think you are doing pretty good at 26.9mpg.

my old s14 got way better gas milage at 80mph than 65, 400 a tank vs 355
could of been that stupid short ram that came with the car I don't know
my new s14 that was 100% stock except coilovers and s13 front end had even better. It got 485 on mostly highway at 65 and closer to 550 when i didn't let the rpms drop below 2500 rpm while moving

lower engine speed does not always equate to better fuel efficiency

550 miles per tank? how big is the s14 fuel tank? from empty to full, my s13 takes usually ~13 gallons. if s14's are the same, you are claiming to have gotten 42.3mpg.

I'm getting 27 mpg and my commute is half city-half interstate. One time I got 38mpg driving to Chicago and back. I was going like 85-90mph the whole way. I dunno how I pulled that off.

S14 tank is 17.2 gal. 550 miles per tank would be around 32 mpg which is attainable but unlikely.

My S14 KA24 with Injen intake gets pretty bad MPG, I don't even bother to calculate it. It burns oil and has 195K+ miles on it.

However, the fuel is still affordable, it's paid for, and if i really start hurting I know i can spend a weekend replacing it with a fresh KA and probably double my mileage.

I have gotten 480 out of one tank but I didn't push it cuz I hate walking to the gas station. I avg just over 30mpg on the hwy but that is with a j30 dif which I think got me over the 30mpg hump.

Stock DOHC with a SRI and 204k miles. I run mid-grade and get roughly 24-25mpg, half-city, half-freeway. I punch it a few times a day and drive an average of 80mph on the freeway. Roughly 300-320 miles per tank. Not bad but still jealous of the guys pulling 28-30mpg or so. I will be changing the spark plug wires, cap, rotor, temp sensor, and O2 sensor soon. Hopefully that will help.

My 91 has a fresh built DE (12K on it now), 9:1 c/r, I run 10w-30 Mobil1, and 93 octane. I run a GT28R @ 9 psi with a ROM tune. I have never gotten over 350 to a tank. Before I put in Iridium plugs I would get 300-320 on a tank if I was lucky. This past week I got around 28 mpg, all highway with some stoplights every so often. The Iridiums made more of a difference in mileage than I thought for sure.
