This thread is awesome, and is a perfect example of why people with SUV's suck!

I got through page 2 and I didn't notice anything.
However, I wonder how tall his wife is
I bet she is right around 5 foot.

I do hate SUV's alot of the time, but they can have their uses. I doubt she really needs it though...

In case you haven't seen my website, although a bit old since I don't have the Nissan anymore, there's a bit about SUV's on my main page. It's the first hyperlink. Click the "Just say no" emblem. You'll love it.

My dad likes SUV's, , but we also need it to pull our boats. We've had a Jeep Gran Cherokee. I loved that thing. Plenty of room, tons of Torque and can pull anything you put on the hitch. I mean ANYTHING! Then we got a ford f-150 and it wouldn't even pull our fishing boat. So it obviously wouldn't pull our 24 ft Sea Ray. Now we have a Blazer and it pulls the fishing boat with ease. We havn't tried the Sea Ray yet, but we're selling it so it doesn't really matter.

My point being we have them cause we use them for their made use, TOWING and HAULING stuff.

Now I can understand SUV'S made by: Jeep, Chevy, and even ford although I wouldn't buy one and Ford has gone Completely OVERBOARD on the size. The ford Excursion probably wouldn't tow much more than our damn Blazer cause the engine has to pull it's own 5000lb+ fat ass around, and it's ford so you know it has an engine that is too small for the job. (ex:Mustang 4.6liters? Come on this is suppose to be a muscle car. My dad has a 4.3 liter v-6 in the blazer)

Now I can't understand SUV'S made by: Lincoln, Cadilac, and i'm sure there's a few more but I can't think of them. An SUV shouldn't have a tv coming with from the factory with a dvd player and what ever else they have.

People I think could benifit from having SUV's:
1. Hunters- Your not going to fit a Deer or a Bear in the back of your Honda Accord. At least I wouldn't recommend it. Notice these people don't have Cadilac or lincold SUV's. The deer would get hair on that nice clean Cadilac Leather seats.

2 People that pull boats and campers-They need the ride Height most of the time depending on the size of the boat. I guess it would look kind of stupid with an extremely big Suv pulling a 12ft jon boat although I have seen it. Now why and SUV would have a ride height of 8.11 (Excursion, taken from chickenmanq's web site.)I don't know but I guess Ford figured the engine wouldn't be able to pull it's own ass along with a heavy boat too.

Another thing, does anybody in here believe in the "Peter Principal" between the oil companys and the Car companies? If nobody has a clue what I'm talking about tell me and I will expain in further detail tomarrow. If somebody does know then enlighten the rest for me cause I'm tired and going to bed. G'night

-dave-

p.s. this post was meant to be somewhat funny but some was here to state that SOME ( and I do mean some) people actually use an SUV for what it is meant, and they are meant for more than just off-roading.

I completely agree. Somewhat drunk right now, so pardon if the spelling and grammar aren't my usual perfectness. I have no problem with people using SUV's for what they're intended. It's just that most don't. Our family owned an Isuzu Rodeo before they were trendy SUV's. We actually bought it after we finally broke off too many fog lights on our Nissan Maxima we used for camping trips.

damn SUV drivers. i drive my 5 passenger SUV to work every other day, without carpooling. i like to use up nearly twice as much gas as my 240sx does, i like to block others' views behind me, i can't pull a boat. i can pull up to 2000lbs and it's domestic pussy rice SUV with it's fancy racing stripes and ground effects. it's two wheel drive, i can take it on dirt roads, but giant mountains, forget it. i have a box of synthetic oil and a full size spare in the back. that's all.

Yeah, whatever, James. You know how many extremes I used to spank in Eleanor? I can't figure it out, but they just couldn't keep up.

well. it's easy to win when it's an unfair matchup. you got a nissan 2.4L four cylinder vs. an american v6 4.3L.....oh....alright. nevermind then!

about beating the xtreme trucks. i believe it. i imagine the KA motor wouldn't even know it's in a truck (not that it BELONGS in a 240SX solely, but you know). and you did a few near cost free mods. i'd love to see their faces

in the blazer i've beaten a mid to late 90's maxima if that counts for anything. and a 4.6L F-150
off the line it gets up. it just doesn't stay up. when i get in my 240SX, i appreciate the "high end power"!

Yeah, I remember the time when I was racing people on the way to PHX, and this 94ish Altima couldn't pass me. His governor kicked in at 112-115 or whatever, and I could go 115. He gave me this really confused look when I let him by. Hehehe. That 4.3l has good potential though. I still think it's mostly the American trannys that inhibit the engine.

Right now I'm fucking pissed at my 81 Honda. It's still having idle problems, and just generally irritating me. Wrote my mechanic buddy in Wenatchee. Trying to figure out what else to test, and wondering if bad compression in one cylinder could be causing it to not idle with multiple accessories on. Not that many, though. Just headlights, and it won't idle.

ot: I had a 84 honda crx and it wouldn't idle enless I had the lights ON. this doesn't really help you that much, but it's funny that I had the completly opposite problem

At least that I could troubleshoot and fix fairly easily. I got word, my mechanic buddy thinks it's the stupid Keihin 3 barrel low-high carbs. I think I'm gonna get a Weber and end this problem once and for all. We're pretty sure that's the problem.

Hey, I'm glad people actually began to respond to my thread. If you haven't read it all the way through, you should, it's pretty entertaining as people try to defend the purchase by talking about how hard it is to move two kids, and tow a boat (which was never mentioned as a priority). Basically it's the old "but it's so useful" excuse which of course doesn't apply to a luxury vehicle that never goes off road, would never haul lumber or anything else dirty, and I have never seen trailoring anything.

And for the person who asked, the wife actually is 5ft tall as later posted.
