I read somewhere that your body naturally compensates when you have a more dominant side(for most its the right).

My puny 135-140 pound ass just started going to the gym regularly now that I have a friend to go with, emphasis on puny haha. My 3 rep bench max is about 125 and when I leg press its usually 8 reps @ 370.

Right now since its almost the end of the semester and I'm out of ROTC till next I just workout whenever, no real strict schedule.. For the upcoming month till school starts again I'm gonna be back home mostly running since I don't really have access to a gym there. When it starts back up again in January my routine will be as follows:

Monday: Gym in the morning, swim at night
Tuesday: ROTC PT (physical training and it's pretty much a joke but I don't have time for anything else)
Wednesday: Run in the afternoon, gym after
Thursday: ROTC PT
Friday: Gym and probably run later on
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Same as Friday

According to the Air Force I'm in excellent physical condition, but honestly I wanna bulk up a bit. My goal is about 150-155 @ around 9% bodyfat. Right now my diet is pretty bad but next semester I'm gonna try and start eating better (eggs, salad, chicken, etc).

Anyways, here's me now, 5'9" about 135. If anyone feels like giving me some advice I'm more than open to it.

Don't mind the stupid face.. facebook picture haha. One thing that I have noticed is that when I do shoulder stuff (lateral raises, front raises) my left shoulder lifts up higher than my right. I broke my left collar bone in 7th grade could that be why?

New Max Bench!

Finally got to 215 1RM. Weigh 146 now.

I tried 225. My original spotter didnt feel comfy with just 1 spotter so we got two on both ends.

And on my way down, new spotter had his hands under the bar still, so my left arm dropped but the right stayed up.

Completely fucked up the rep and I couldnt even get it off my chest after that. Oh well, I'll try again in a few days.

if you are trying to bulk eat more calories, more proteins, and stop swimming and doing so much cardio.

^Thanks man! Been a long road that's for sure lol.

I did my bodyweight for overhead press today. Never tried to max out on it and I maxxed at 150. According to SEALFit I am in between the Advanced and Elite category for lifting. Pretty proud about that for only going at it 10 months.

At least you can bench your body weight!

I was 133lbs in July. By September I was 144, now I'm 146.And it is FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR from easy for me to gain weight with my metabolism and the amount of running/swimming I do. All happend because I started dieting alot better. It's literally all in the diet.

If you eat like shit, you will perform like shit.

I wouldn't say to stop doing cardio, just eat more. If your cardio burns X amount of calories just make sure to eat an additional X amount of calories to compensate.

Thanks for the responses.. One catch tho is that for my PFA that I take twice a semester (physical fitness assessment), its max pushups in a minute, max situps in a minute, and mile and a half time. I max everything except the run (time of 9:12 or less, my last best was 9:27) so I've been trying to get that. And its like I said earlier, I don't really wanna bulk up that much, just another 15-20 pounds.

You want to bulk? Then

Calories In > Calories Out

I don't' care if you're doing cardio or not, if you take more calories in than you burn in a day you will gain. Period. Now if you don't' do cardio it will get you there quicker, but that's another issue. Like someone else in this thread mentioned, most bodybuilders aren't necessarily healthy. Many wont be able to run a mile without being extremely out of breath....

This guy only wants to gain 15-20lbs. I did it in 3 months running 4 miles a day and swimming almost 2 miles 3 days a week. If he diets right, and hits the weights right, he will get that weight easy.

I'm trying to go to the Phoenix Raven program they have right now.

I underestimated the AF. 55 push ups (chest hitting the deck and elbows lock out for them to count) and 55 sit ups in a minute. Alot harder than it sounds.

Thats a good run time. I'm close to breaking into the 8s. I did 10:02 a week ago in cold as hell weather, and a busted shin. Last PFA was 9:27. Soon as I let my shin heal a little bit and the weather warms up I think I can break into the 8:50s

Whats your 500m swim time?

Really? When I'm instructed to do my PFA its elbows 90*, and the max pushups is 67, situps 58. I dream of being in the 8s for my run tho haha. And for swim its only once a week in a 25m pool, I just started at the beginning of the semester haha it kicks my ass. I would say my 500 time is around 10-11 minutes.

Those requirements are for the Raven screening. They are very strict.

I'm lucky, I get to swim at the infamous "Tank" at NAB Coronado. 50m 20ft deep. It's wonderful lol

just depends what your goals are.
why do the extra work, or why eat the extra meals if you dont need to.
You are completely right, as I and others have it said it many times, bodybuilders arent healthy... at least most of them arent. However, they arent endurance athletes, crossfitters or military. different strokes for different folks.

general rule of thumb is to if you need 3k maintenance cals daily, add 500 to bulk, -500 to cut and so on. this method usually needs some time and fine tuning.

Gotta stay with it. When I lose motivation I find some friends to work out with and have some friendly competition with.

being a manwhore isnt easy lol.
Feel the complete opposite. Seeing five girls for dates, small talk, and sex was easier than seeing the one girl I am now seriously.

less deep stress I guess..

keeping relashionships very light is the best thing I can do for myself..
Im in the same boat you were before..seeing exactly 5 girls,..randomly through out the week..
I call it the circle of trust..they trust me, I fuck them..
were all happy

There's this point where a relationship is really fun and easy to maintain and then it hits this point where it's still enjoyable but the time involved skyrockets and they expect stuff, lots of stuff.

Also I have a past of being a manslut and don't have much experience in long term relationships so you could say I was more practiced for one.

I'm also 100% sure I'll eventually go back to it, but not too soon, I'm trying something different for now.

But anyway, squat, roids, and striations and naked dudes and all that.

i think breaking up with my girlfriend has been the best thing for my workout life haha, I feel an urgency to be in tiptop shape now, being a manwhore isnt easy lol.
lol honestly though, my past depression was my greatest motive to go workout, and workout hard. i was feeling so down at the time, working out was all that i enjoyed.

i still get episodes where i'll crumble but i havn't been hit with one that last brought me down that low.

i've managed myself, just lack of dieting and motivation to do it now...

at least you are getting laid... i'm not. i wish i was.

but if you think about it, sex is a dumb act. humans are the only species that do it for pleasure. it's literally sticking your penor in and out of a hole till you bust. :\

So I'm 208lbs today. Down from 255lbs in 23.5 weeks. I'm 6ft, how much longer before my six pack shows dammit!? lol
