Urgent* Transmission Removal, Tunnel Problems

So.. I have an S14, S15 SR with S14 SR transmission

I have the transmission completely removed, I just have two ears on the top hanging up on the back of the tunnel.

I have tried jacking the front of the motor up.. Not enough...

Next, I loosened the motor mounts and tried to tilt it more, if anything, that hurt the situation because the whole motor wanted to lift....

I'm thinking my next step will be to remove both motor mounts and set the mounts down metal to metal.. That should give me an extra few inches, which is all I need....

take all the plumbing off the front of the engine, then let the engine sit back by lowering the tailshaft of the transmission.

The engine wont sit back if the intercooler and anything stiff is still connected.

In for clutch pics - is that a SPEC? Are you the original installer?

Loosen the crossmember bolts on both sides. Leave nuts intact and the crossmember should drop .5-1" and give you the clearance needed.

You'll probably want an easy install too, remove the Trans cross member, push the Trans forward about a 1/4in from fire wall and spin the Trans and pull, of course things have to be removed like shifter and Trans fluid but it'll come out.

Ps in your pics the input shafts is probably still in the clutch, or it'll be resting on the fingers of the pressure plate, which it doesn't look like.

I completely loosened the front crossmember bolts(x4) and held it up with a jack and stand.then with two people one on the tail shaft and the other on the bellhousing you wiggle it in with it flipped 180 degrees(shifter housing facing down) and that should work.you can use a hammer and bang out some metal just to give you that little bit more you might need.

Sooooo Update:

I got the transmission out.... and the Throwout bearing is fine... the input shat bearing is fine... Pilot bearing seems fine feeling in..... Im trying to get the transmission reinstalled and am having more trouble than I am when I removed it!! to remove it, I ended up lowering the subframe and rotating the transmission 180* and got it out.... hurt my back pretty bad in the process.... as I did it by myself.. LOL Im starting to really think that it was my slave cylinder or master cylinder getting weak.... it happened gradually, but fast.... not typical of a bearing... bearings usually have a long fail process... whereas a hydraulic piece will show signs of inoperability and then very quickly deteriorate to non functional....

Anyway... im trying to get it back in; I feel like I have tried about every rotation possible. I can't get this sucker back in.....

Im starting to think I will have to jack the motor up and remove the motor mounts and set it down metal on metal........

Anyone have any input??

Lower front subframe and put something under the crank pulley to tilt the engine back, you should have plenty of room. Loosen the motor mounts if you need to do so to get more fllex. You might have to do the rotation method in addition to those other steps, but a lift under the crank pulley to tilt the engine always makes things easier. For us anyway.

Though you might not need to lower the X member. Get a rinky dinky jack and a 2 x 4 of proper length. Jack up on the crank pulley until the car starts to slightly lifts.
Once the engine is tilted back as far as it can go, clearance issue shouldn't be a problem anymore.
What you'll have to do now is grab a cold beverage and muster up some patience. You'll have to find that sweet spot to get the Trans mated. Rotate the Trans every direction possible to find it. I find it best when the starter hole is hugging the top right, (passenger) corner of the Trans tunnel.
