Alright I know alot of people say this does not do anything and will fuk up your car... But I just used (MSM money) and found I spend 500$ a month on food...

So I switched to top romen and decided to take on the quest to try out this "Electric Turbo"

This is the 1st in quite a bit of work. Its going to take me a little while becus I'm a puss when it comes to hacking on my car.. I only have 1

I have purchased 2 bilge pump fans from a boat store... they are 4" 12volt 4.5amp fans that push 240cfm's of air.

I have also gone to home depo and purchased quite a few 4" pvc bends and 3" bends... along with a 4" to 3" reducer... I'm not quite sure how the pvc will hold up to the engine heat... I'll deal with that later.

I have an Automete A/F and Volt gaudge on the way.. yeah thats guna be fun install (not) I have not desided where to mount them as of yet... But am leaning to the 3 DIN pod... (Guna make it out of lexan)... I was also thinking of buying an Intake temp gaudge... But I'm not to fond of spending all my new found cash all at once.

Before you all rip me a new one... here is my hole..... in the car.

I'll look into another one... or an EGT... How do you read an EGT?

Actually, you should use the A/F gauge and EGT gauges in conjunction to help tune and troubleshoot, the kinda work together (FPR and fuel pressure gauge too).

EGT's are something I haven't done yet (but plan to), AFAIK you drill into your exhaust system and install a temp sensor, then learn at what point your temp should be and when.

you realize that those fans blow 240 unrestricted cfm. thats not 240 cfm into a pressurized manifold. and 2 of them does not equal 480 cfm. you realize a turbo is built to spin at over 100,000 rpm?

those little fans you got there might spin at 5,000 rpm. this won't fubar your engine, but they will restrict air going into the intake. Have fun wasting your money. There's a reason no one does this that knows anything about cars.

I comend you on your trials, but we both know it will most likely lead to crap. I applaude your initiative, its how most great inventions get invented. Please, however, don't send another penny to hell with this project. Save up and build the first KA24DETT, where we will all gawk and praise you for your efforst...

or buy a n1 dual and call it a day...

try it, you already spent the money & cut the hole, might aswell try it. i think your going to need a blow-off valve and a full throtle switch.

full throttle to turn the fans on at WOT

blow-off to let the air out.

try it with just the full throttle switch first, that might be enough, and you'll save money too, the switch is like $10.00

Sorry to say...and I posted this before...

It is most amazing how much air is going through the intake at WOT. The fans will drag. Their is a certain power band they =could= work but damn, the ecu will go nuts trying to figure it all out.

I would fear for the fans being sucked into the engine. Have you ever put your hand over the exhaust pipes at WOT? At least that much air is going in.

In the very old days, my Dad (he is 80years old now) installed, what was called a "electric superchargers" on his 37 Plymouth coupe. It had a knob so you could turn them up as you accelerated. They were HUGE devices...blowing 1300CFM MAX into the engine which was a strait 8. Took two batteries to run them for a few mins. All cars were 6 volts then. He slung the tops off the pistons and ruined the engine. The old man ran a measured mile at 126MPH in 1947 with it though.

BTW, He was also a test pilot..

sykikchimp - Yes I understand how the fans work... And that they wont push as much air as my engine needs at WOT. But they should help up to 4000 somthing RPM's..... More air = more power.

I have been thinking of ways to make them not restrict my air flow... but still add air.

About the foot switch... I have found RPM actavated switches... Also autometer makes a 12volt 10amp rpm **** lite switch that runs off there tac...

(Anyways... Just remember I dont know this is guna work... I know it sould help and i'm willing to find out what will happen.)

Hey Redline racer!

Pop flew everything he could get his hands on. This was in 43/44/45. He flew Captured Mitsubishi zeros, ME109's, P51's, P38's, the list continues forever.

His favorite plane is the P38 lightning. The P51 runs a close second. He really likes WWI aircraft as well.

His official duty was to report maximum safe specification of the aircraft. This meant taking them beyond their limits. He would try to "tear the wings off of them" and had to bail out of a few that became overstressed. He was an officer for the Army air corps...before the branch USAF exsisted. He logged thousands of hours in the 3 year period. He even flew the P59 comet (our first jet) and did some harrowing stunts that I feel would be best not talked about. He could not get it out of his sytem and began designing and building model airplanes (I love this hobby) and aquired a large field which to fly them...which we now share and I have aquired it myself.

Yep, the Old Man is amazing. He still flys too. He got a ticket doing 84 in a 70 a few months back..

be sure to get some type of mesh or something in front of the fans incase something decides to come off of them, wouldnt want a chuck of metal/plastic/etc flying into your engine now.

There is already a strong mesh screen infront of the MAFS... I whacked it a few times with my finger... Somthing would have to hit it very hard to go through.

I'm still working on cutting the hole... I needa barrow my friends roto,tool to finish the hole... And i'm working on a custome dash thing... Around the radio...

I was lazy this weekend with the 4th and all the family...

sweet that looks almost like my speed hole!!!! haha

anyway, got another idea for ya if the fans are too restrictive. try mounting them in your speed hole area to try and drive more cool air into the intake area. and dont forget to try and block off the cone filter from the rest of the engine bay (where more hot air dwels) with sheet metal and use rubber hose (like fuel lines) to put around the metal edges so it doesnt look like crap.

ill try to post pics of my custom set-up when its light out...

They won't even push as much air as your engine needs at IDLE.

An average sized supercharger takes 20hp or more to spin and compress air.

The electric motors on those pumps combined are making about 0.1hp...

Crioten I was looking into mounting the air filter in the Speed hole spot… Right by the fog light is where you were thinking right? It would be easy to mount one fan down there… But 2 is going to be a challenge… But that’s ½ the fun.

Btw just an update for any who care…

I got the lexan cut to size to mount in my DIN slot. I am going to purchase a 2” hole saw tonight on the way home and put it on my drill press… I should have at least one gauge all wired up tonight… maybe both not sure. I’ll wire the fans power tonight as well depending on how time will permit (I do need to log on and play Star wars galaxies tonight) But I will try to get this done 1st.

I still don’t have the damn rotor tool… Harbor freight has a cheep one for 20$ I’m going to have to go buy, or I’ll never get that hole done.

Once the hole is cut I need to go to Auto Zone and get a MAFS Adapter… well 2 of them.

So that’s what’s going on.

i thought about doing mine that way...but decided to not play with too much hose.

the next thing im going to do is make a steel shaft/duck thingy that goes back from the foglight/ vent thing up to the speed hole (instead of putting the actual filter down in there)

im doing this b/c it would be a pain to do, could suck up water, and would be another pain to change/replace the filter...im sure you know this, but be sure that the inside of all the tubing is smooth and such so that it wont mess up your mafs, and make your car run funny.

does your car have a foglight or the vent? if it has a foglight, you could also make a small inlet on/near the radiator area to suck in more area.

but do whatever ya want to, its your plan

hope it works out for ya...

My car does have the fog lights... I think its a fist size opening next to the fog light... Never tried fisting it tho. (lol)

I'll see what I can fit down there. This 4" tubeing is a pain.

Anyways.

That lexan is super tuff I got my 3 holes cut with the 2" hole saw. But I had to put a 2" sanding bit on my press and sand the hole bigger, which took a while. It diddent help that I got home late from work. Man I hate traffic!

So I diddent get any wireing done

Now that I have my gauge face done I can mount it in my dash. Should look nice... One of the holes is a bit left... But I dont think you can tell with the gauges in.

Does anyone have a good 95 240sx ECU chart? I saw the one on www.240sx.org but I want another to compair... I got a lame chilton book and I cant find the ECU wire in there.

I would take more Pics... But that camera eats AA's and my bro lost the recharge cord

so I needa go get a new one.

I got my Autometer installd... And don't pitch me crap about the A/F it works fine... I duno wen't wrong with yours but mine works like it said it would... It jumps around like all hell and works best at WOT... kool with me.... anyways here are some pics... Give you your feedback. yeah yeah there is a big hole.
