is it possible to resurface the head on a red top sr? like will the valves be to close to the pistons or will it be ok to do once?

It should be okay to do it once. Figure out or ask how much is being milled off, and if it is "too much" compensate with a thicker head gasket.

I think i had 0.004" taken off mine, and I am running a stock-thickness (1.1mm) HG fine with no issues.
