I'm learning it right now, but I'm taking a class, not doing it on my own. PM me and I'll find you the website that my professor gave me that apparently has TONS of resources for learning the language.

Dude...
Just PLEASE do not become the "all knowing gaijin" if you ever do goto Japan, and don't act like an asshole like most gaijins do... I've ran into plenty myself, and even almost got into 2 fights! I've NEVER gotten into any fights back in southern California! One fight was over a VIDEO GAME, guy lost and gave me the FU because he thought I was a typical resident and did not know English, other time it was some fat dude that thought he can make me move out of his way and tried pushing me... Though I have ran into alot of cool gaijins also, those are mostly non-white people, not trying say that all white people in Japan are not cool, but majority I ran into were all mean to me... -glenn |

I am also taking Japanese, but in a class. So far it is hard as hell, but I am studying alot. I have almost learned the first 46 syllables in Hiragana and have I think about another 100 more characters to go.

LOL!!! I already tried spanish and FAILED!
So, I thought I'll give japanese a try. Currently enrolled in a japanese class myself. Then I saw this thread and went to the link Koto posted. Read every single word and laughed my ass off. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> Then it hit me...It was all true! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> LOL Well, the other reason why I'm taking that class. Partly, because a friend of my has a japanese girlfriend and he somewhat sucked me into it. I mean, she is so japanese that she is living in japan right now. He managed to find one of those exchange student. She is like really really fresh sushi. Not that fresh sushi refers to japanese girls or anything like that. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> I just thought it was a good to get what I'm saying across. *Runs and hide from the flames he's going to get from this comment* |

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Grammatical Structure The Japanese have what could be called an "interesting" grammatical structure, but could also be called "confusing", "random", "bogus" or "evil". To truly understand this, let's examine the differences between Japanese and English grammar. English Sentence: Jane went to the school. Same Sentence In Japanese: School Jane To Went Monkey Apple Carbeurator. </td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> Oh man thats so true. The Chinese language also sorta uses that same grammar structure but i guess Japanese was so damn confusing to me cuz im familiar with Mandarin already. |
