So I'm trying to cross all my T's and dot all my I's before I start my 5 speed swap on my vert.

To begin with, none of the switches on the 5 speed worked. Since I'll need the neutral and backup light switches, I ordered replacements. The new neutral switch works perfectly but the new backup light switch doesn't.

If I pull the switch out and push the button in by hand, it makes a connection but it seems like the switch is too short to reach the shift rod when its installed.

Do I have some weird transmission or something? Any suggestions would be helpful!

The new backup light switch I ordered was an Airtex 1S5835

Is it a KA trans? Go into autozone/advance/ect. and ask for a reverse/neutral safety switch and that should be it. Ill get the part number on my box tonight for you. If not your trans has something wrong.
