s13 2jzge swap questions

Alright I was looking into possibly putting something like this together for a daily. From what I've read I might run into hood clearance issue with the intake manifold since it goes over the head. Has anyone done this swap, and have any experience that they could share to save me some headache?

Start off by knowing what mounts you are going to use first. Ebay ones might work there similar to the rucas racing ones that are going for over $300. Or to be sure run spacers on the hood.

Either way you in for a headache project.

That's what it seems like. I'm trying to be able to keep A/C and possibly find a way to make cruise control still work. I'm still trying to pick out the right mounts for the hood clearance. That was kind of what I was getting at for tips.

None of the current kits have any sort of hood clearance issue.

The IM is the least of your concerns.

There's a pretty good thread that flicktitty posted about jz swaps in schassis'.

That should answer your current and future questions.

You should be fine. As noted in the previous posts Flicktitty and S14Pit did it successfully with no clearance issues. As far as the A/C....not sure if you wan to go this route but what I am doing is using a Civic Condensor which is smaller than our stock ones and then having custom connectors made. i havent gotten around to the A/C shop to see how much they will charge for the custom connections but it should be rather inexpensive.

BTW make sure you get the 2j harness to eliminate any headaches in the wiring.

I believe you PM'd me a few days ago asking this?

Try looking up FREED Engineering or Turbo Dave Fabrication i believe both of those places mounts work to allow use of a stock cross over intake manifold that the GE has vs. the GTE. Or if you want i believe you can buy a cheap FFIM (Front Facing Intake Manifold) on ebay now and that would effeminate your clearance issues and help ALOT on the looks department too.

Yea if u worry about the stock ugly manifold few companies like fsmoto, xspower, boostwerx offers ffim for the 2jzge. To be honest i'm considering this route also. There's many options too like mating a tt head. Club na-t. Com has tons of informations and also supra mania. One thing i can't stand on the 2jzge the damn distributor to close on the exhaust/turbo manifold.

i just finished this swap

the manifold is ugly. but out flows the gte

what tranny? w55/58 shifter will line up perfectly

r154 requires shifter extension cause its short.

i know how to wire the 2jz ge ecu to the chassie what computer are you using and harness is obd1 or 2?

i bought the ebay mounts for 200 shipped and the motor sits as far back possible yet the oil pan clears the subframe and swaybar. and yes you will need the ka or sr rubber pucks as this make is a drop and bolt on.

2jz ge is a torque monster. pulls 5th gear up a hill with speed.

runs a 2 row radiator with pusher fans. the main pully is dam close enough

i have the wiring for the reverse lights and youll need dekota boxes or msd tech converters to run the oem tach with the 2jz ecu. the speedo and temp will not work.

if your running a w series tranny you'll need a 44" drive shaft made measuring from the diff plate to center of the u joint. buy after market chevy u joints and yolk. cant re use the oem. plus oem is weaker.

i have the alternator wiring. which series 2jz are you running?

lmk with pm's or text me if you need a hand 305 890 8013

i choose the ge over the gte. why? flow, port size, torque = hp ratio is well squared off and easier power gains with less cost.

i have a waste spark coil set up on a obd1 series to delete the distributor. there are many write ups.

and one last thing, keep the fuel lines and filter as far away from the headers or manifolds as possible. the 2jz runs 200 - 210 temps by water.

Im pulling a 2jzge out of a 94 lexus gs300 today. Was the wiring the ge into an s13 the same as wiring a gte 2jz?
