Stretched tire pressure...

I did a couple of searches, and only came up with pics of stretched tires and references to pressure, but no actual numbers.

I'm puting a 235/40/18 on an 18x10, what kind of tire pressure should i be working with?

or, if it pertains to each particular tire, for that much of a stretch (not too crazy, but not mild either) then maybe someone could say " X lbs over what it says on the tire" or schwateverr!

thanks in advance

55psi.

Any less than that and your risking it unseating on the highway.

Happened to me, True Story.

^ fail.

seriously though, u need a shitload of air in there to make the tire solid and not roll around on turns and expand at high speed

to make the tires solid?
i thought you would put alot of air is FAT tires because they have more room to move. i thought people put stretched tire on because they cant move as much and for good response... i guess ive got a lot to learn

i usually go +5 whatever the max air pressure is for the tire, good ballpark. obviously needs tweaking for personal preference at the track however.

i run a 195/50/15 on a 15 by 8 and i usualy run 44 psi ... altough it depends from the tire ... cuz i had a cheap tires on ones and 44 psi turned to like 50 after 10 min of drifting and it blew the treadwear patch off .... but now i run Falcon Ziex and 45 psi is no problem to em

How about getting some tires that fit the rim? I can't stand stretched tires. 265's fit 10" nicely, and 285's will fit perfect.

That's nice, you have an opinion.

Why are you posting in a thread about stretching tires?

He is worried about what tire pressure to run on them. He wouldn't have to worry about unbeading a tire if he put a correct size on there, plus have a lot better driveability, stability, etc.

holy shit dousan, I thought you'd know better.

only thing that saved you was heating up the rear and the air temp adding pressure.

seriously, 55+, or it will come off the bead.

wow 55psi on the front tires too?

that seems pretty high

ps: i think it also depends on what stretch you are running.

like a 225 on a 9J isn't much of a stretch.

i don't think running 25-30psi for the front tires would be bad? any inputs?

i'm incorporating track temps too so the fronts would heat up a bit as well of course

If anybody actually read my post, I wasn't just posting an opinion, I gave info on the correct tire size for the wheel. You wouldn't believe how many wheels I've replaced because some kid was either too cheap to buy the correct offset for there car and wanted to stretch there tire to not rub on the fender, or wanted the drifter look or something along those lines. Tire comes off bead, and shreds the tire and wheel. Gee, you gotta replace a whole wheel and tire because they wanted to either look cool or didn't want to put the correct size of tire on the wheel.

If your going to be drifting only on these wheels and tires, then it's your deal. I just wouldnt' recomend it for a street car driven on roads daily, see my second post above for a few reasons.

As for the noob comment, it looks like I've got about 2 years on you. I'm just not a post whore that jumps on trying to bash someone.
