look at my new drift toy (lots of pics!!!)
i hope i am writing to the correct area...and sorry for the poor english...
this is the drift toy i bought...the reasons, it was cheap, different, never been done, old skool, and i my opinion looks fantastic... its an 1975 Opel Manta A series.... we all know the rally legend B series well this is a little bit different then them...according to what i read on the net about the car it was a legend itself on handling at its time (i cant imagine how)... i get the car drive it around and where ever i go it turns heads and people come up and ask what is it and all those non sense questions and even a guy took the pics of the car while passing by me...it looks like it have a good potential for drifting well at least it powerslides through everywhere...you just need to upset the balance of the car and it will kick the back end out for sometime...as this week we are covered with snow i ll wait till next week to get the diff welded...and then we will see if we can connect the corners with this silly suspension...the pics are below...go see them i ll continue writing after the pics it used to have 17's but they break the front arches so got rid of them and put on the 13's this is the 1.9 litre GM power, it used to be injection but in its life at some point converted to carburators for some reason...(its been confirmed by the opel manta owners club that its been a gt/e model which had injection engine) this is the interior, it is nothing much really, as me being 193cm (i think it is 6"3' ??) tall so i made custom seat bracket as low as possible and as rear as possible the result is that the driver seat touches the rear seat... it might be a good idea to list what are the things dont work on the car... rear window resistance thingy doors dont close properly windows needs alignment(proper fitting) driver side rear window need to be changed some of the rubber around the windows needs changing exhaust needs changing the driver side suspension is blown and lastly gauges have their on mind, ie: when at 60km/h it shows 130 and when at 120km/h it shows 80 or so...the petrol gauge decides according to road surface, rpm is mental cant read it at all, the only gauge which SEAMS to be working is water temp...(hopefully it is working) so what i want is: full autometer gauges i want the procomp ultra lite's... i want to make a new dash board which turns through the driver like in 8 series beemers and get it flocked...pics of 8 series dash and a flocked dash... then i want this wide body it pushes out almost 8 cm on the cars width and the engine, we all have dreams dont we? even seeing the engine pics makes me happy after searching on the net for sometime i find out why no one have done it before and why no one else tried...there are absolutly NO aftermarket parts for manta A series...manta B series like s13's you can buy everything but manta A's have NOTHING...and becouse the chassis is completly different between manta a and b the parts for manta b is no use...manta a and ascona a have the same chassis and almost same suspension, so only original or custom made...as this is a monoqocue chassis there a no chassis rails and so on like on s chassis...i dont know if you have seen on the pics but there is even no suspension towers on the car...during my search i came across this mental project from UK... MadMinor project - not 56k friendly though - SXOC Bulletin Board where they take the s13 floor and install it on their car, which seemed like a good idea...which can solve all my problems; poor handling, and lack of aftermarket parts for suspension and chassis...after a little bit more research find out that at wheelbase there is only 4.2cm difference and on width 8.9 cm which can be fixed with a wide body kit... so now i am in search of a s13 chassis like below:: it is near impossible in Turkey but we will wait and see...in the mean time its better for me to learn automobile welding...any of you know a good source for it please let me know... any of you guys have knowledge about these cars please let me know, and any other ideas you guys have please feel free to share it...as i just started to learn about these cars, i would appriciate any help or idea... thanks |
