alright so from all the post im getting ive seen no know post any 5w,so that leaves me no choice but to exchange for the correct oil in the 10w catagory...oh and where i live we only in the 50-60's right now but when summer hits 90+

I'm in Florida and I use 10w-40 (sr20det). I noticed that 10w-30 was a bit too thin... I want to try 20w-50 for this upcoming summer but I'm not sure :|

alright i took the 5w30 back and got some 10w40 castrol syntec cause they dont have it in edge..so tomorrow is jiffy lube day

why purple? i cant stand that shit,it should even be on the market it sucks soo bad..i tried it in my wrx for motor oil,tranny,rear diff and all failed,the wear protection is weak my tranny almost died because of it and my diff clunked and whinned. im just sayin i say run redline

Not really sure, can't really find redlie where I am. And RP seemed to be the best bet, it's just my DD no drifting or anything going on here.

you can have redline shipped to your door..here is a funny thing im an amsol dealer where i live and use other stuff idk why but ive always used castrol..maybe im just used to using amsol in my quads.

10w-40 or 20w-50.
i normally use 10w-40, but i just switched to 20w-50 cause i went for a dyno tune recently n the bugga runs fine wit that oil.
10w-40 is the safe oil for just balance.
good to hear you got rid that 5w-30 crap. This isnt a honda motor which nobody gives a s*** about

i have a freshly rebuilt ka-t
i was planning on running mobile1 full synthetic 5-30
but it looks like that may be bad?
what should i be running on a fresh engine.. bearings, head everything.
note i live in socal, and will daily the car

back from the dead..i havent even been able to run the car enough for change the only because of this crap weather we have, i havent been able to drive for a week straight without it snowing.so now im at the point where i can change the oil this time im going to try rotella T5

I don't think some of the posters here understand what the numbers actually mean.

10w-30 and 5w-30 will run exactly the same at op temperature. The W number is the viscocity when the oil is cold, and the 30 is the viscocity at operating temp.

Run what the FSM says. Its clear and simple. If your running higher HP and experiences long durations of high HP (400bhp) such as road racing, then I hope you have a oil temp and pressure gauge to assess whether your oil weight needs to change. Short bursts of high HP such as drifting may not be as big of a deal.
