Foamectomy on stock seats?

Rather than buying a race seat for more support, has anyone done a foamectomy on a stock seat? The stock butt cushion is pretty flat, and the seat back seems to have a lot of extra foam in it, both of which could be worked on to make the seat more supportive.

Anyone ever try this?

no, but i know what can be done...

If your talking about an s13, then you have a set of 4 or so springs in the back support of the seat. If you simply unzip the seat from the back you can remove the springs and your back will sit deeper into the seat offering more support from side to side movement.

but if you want something thats really going to make a difference buy bucket seats later down the road.

I pulled the bottom cover off and used a 4" grinder to reshape the foam. Worked OK but to make it look good you'd have to do some stitching through the foam to take up slack in the cover.
