I remember driving my 72 240Z up to San Mateo Nissan and parking it to go test drive a 89 SE. I got in and drove it and was floored at how well it handled for a stock off the showroom floor car in 1989. The .89 skidpad rating was pretty phenomenal. 240's were not pieces of shit and they should never have been marketed the way Nissan North America chose to market them, IMO. Though the first two years did sell very well, respectively at 60k units per year. I did not wind up buying one though till spring of 99 after I had moved to socal and needed something with air. LOL my Hardbody truck did not have air. So I bought my aforementioned Misty Blue aka Silver blue 89. My low mileage 91 would come a year and half later.

i bought my first S14 in '03 simply because it was cheaper than a 5th gen prelude and was the only other car i fit well in that i could afford. unfortunately no pics, but here's the receipt for it at a dealer only auction in Florida. it was my 1st of 3 S14 chassis i owned.

Now you're acting like an idiot. You're NOT old skool. Get over it. Who cares, anyway? It's no big deal as we all drive the same cars.
The point is that if you are old skool, you can relate to the nostalgia. Last edited by usdm180sx; 12-16-2008 at 09:48 AM.. |

A. if you where into 240's in the 1990's your OG. 2000+ Does not equal OG,i don't care what you think.
B. 240sx's ARE NOT pieces of shit. EVER. NEVER, EVER, NEVER C. Dude's Grandfather must have been a real cool cat.(NoFWD/Auto FTW) D. If you saw F&F and wanted a 240 Stay out of this thread. your BandWagoneer and You are a Hardparker and you know it E. I appreciate all the old stories cause it fills in the gaps for me. INFO=Win. The true OG Zilvia guys have some good stuff to share. F. Cheap parts does not equal Fail. Just means I have a diff. goal than u on Modding. I want perfomance over Looks, others opinions, etc. And Im Cheap. <--- The Main Reason G. Sportmax did not ruin us. F&F did, and the drifting thing made people idolize beat up wrecks. See the s13.4 vert with the spraypaint. Anyway once It stopped being a STREET car thing it got F'ed up. HIN & Nopi got people wanting things that dont have anything to do with "Go". Ie. TOO Low cars, Fitment junkies, 4K wheels that Serve No purpose. Aero for Aero's sake. Crap that makes no sense to a speed demon's mind. In MY mind Modifing cars is In order to make them have MORE performance. There are lots of things that I see on this board that are actually Detrimental to going fast. So to me that doesn't make sense. Thats my 2 cents. I bought my first 240 in 1998. Im not OG, Im a Drift Poseur. Thats the truth. I read a SpoComCar article in 199? somthin and saw the Red 240 with the Veilside Lights That NITTO used to advertise with. I was hooked from then on. This is not my first account on zilvia so don't give me that crap either. My Flame Suit is on so You do what you have to. I just wanted to comment. TY for your time. |

this is what I miss from back in the day.
When somebody made a thread asking about something that may have been covered before, you didn't have 38 kids running in there to post some "witty" picture or phrase about "searching" for it "noob, newb, n00b" whatever that bullshit is.

I don't get why this thread has become such a bitchfest. I am not old school, I am not all butthurt about it. Why are other people? This signifies the problem with the 240 community. There seems to be no respect for anything, even the people that paved the way for all of us. The youngsters seem to want to think that they are just as good as the guys who originated the shit. They are not, I am not. I have what I have today because others took the time and made the effort to make it available for me. If it wasn't for them WE would not be where we are. The people that this thread was created for deserve respect. Either give it to them or GTFO.

this thread is cool... i gotta find pictures. but i bought my first S13 in 1998 (age 16) from a nissan dealership for 2500 out the door. LOL.. clean as fuck only had 39k miles on it. had it KAT-d Within a year (RIP KA.) then swapped in an SR (RIP 93 s13) good times... since then ive owned 3 more s13s and im on my s14 right now.... im not SUPER og, but definately been in the game for a while now... but then again who cares. i love the s-chassis period.
edit: everything without the help of mommy and daddy (except for 1/4 of my first car's cost which they helped me purchase) and dont let the join date fool you.. been trolling way before that.

After a couple weeks, the kids that are offended or desperate for attention and validation will forget about this thread and we can get back on track with the stories and old pics.
i was in WA state when i had my first 240, then moved onto a half dozen Datsun 510s. So I am really enjoying these OG SoCal stories that help fill in the gap and remind me of the old 510 community. My BTW, F&F didn't wreck 240's. It may be overly popular right now, but the amount of people into it has really sparked a massive amount of aftermarket and events. And when everyone finishes going VIP, there will be alot of 240's with tons of parts for cheap. And Every bandwaggoner will go VIP. Because they cant drive worth shit and are not die hard motorsports fans. I dont see them at the track every month. When they do show they spin or get passed by my SOHC on springs and shocks.. You can spot the people that make thier life revolve around motorsports, and the ones who are here to leach of its current "cool" factor. So no worries, we can wait em out and buy thier cars for cheap when they all leave Im oldschool, but atleast I missed the car cross over modding years before aftermarket support in the US was here. Of course, Almost half my 510 upgrades were off different Datsuns |

Eric, I don't do events anymore...I may go to one or two more, but, I have too much shit to do nowadays. Sooo yeah....haha. But, one thing I DO NOT MISS....is having fucking Milano (was that his name? I barely remember) cutting in line at DD's thinking he was the shit.

I cant say I'm O.G because I got my 240 for Christmas in 03, but I was into the "scene" as a forum reader for many years before I got my 240. I remember when Greaser had the white zenki SR with a HKS turbine, then he swapped that engine into a S13 he made a drag car and he ran like 10s in it. When Russ would come up to Greensboro, NC the triad crew and him would always talk about these crazy Banzai runs they would have. I remember when people actually tried to qualify for the first D1(I think it was D1) at Irwindale with non boosted KA's. Overall I remember when the forums used to actually have alot of useful info instead of all the gibberish! It would be nice to be a closer knit community like the Type R forum over on Honda-Tech. I enjoy going to the track with them and their Type-R Expo is AWESOME. It would be nice to have stuff like that within the 240sx community.
