Sr20 redtop, No boost. help please

Hello, I'm fairly new to the turbo car world lol. I've always wanted a 240sx and i finally got one with the sr swap in it but it still needs work.

Down to the story i was changing the turbo coolant/oil return lines to DIF lines and after i took off the Exhaust manifold i saw the gasket was broken in half idk if this is my problem but after i put it back together my car bogs down while i WOT it. It reads boost and the turbo spools healthly so its not a bad turbo.

I am planning on ordering a new Manifold and MAF.

I think it might be my exhaust gasket but could it make that much of a difference?

I don't believe so, if you're getting boost pressure then I would say no. Do you have stock fuel pump? Stock Ecuador?

That's what I'm saying though, are the seals around the turbo or the tubing itself sealed? You could also be in limp.

My guess is you're losing pressure somewhere.

Mhm, idk if i'm running limp mode though. I'm thinking i'm losing pressure from the broken gasket.

What part of the Wood are you in?

First, stop trying to boost the car. There is obviously an issue and you don't want to damage anything. Second, you were in there messing around. Check all connections, make sure you don't have a rag shoved some where, basically double check everything.

Have you done any matienence on the car? Have you changed oil, filter, plugs? Let's start with the basic stuff such as spark plugs, ingnition timing, etc.

Alrighty, I'll start from there. I'll do the oil change tomorrow plus the plugs. Ignition timing? whats that?

I live in the Sarasota county side of Englewood near dearborn.

Ignition timing, when the number one cylinder fires it's spark... It should be at 15* BTDC. Perhaps you should download a factory service manual(FSM) and do some reading.

We all are start somewhere and the only way to learn is to ask. There's no such thing as a stupid question.

I was just a little surprised you didn't know what ignition timing was with an sr20 swapped 240. That car is intermediate, not beginner level.

I grabbed the car for 2300 because the guy didn't want to go to jail for child support lol.

Came with coilovers, sr20, manual boost controller and a bit more. I just took over the project, I have alot planned for it. lol

It's a great swap and great car. Sucks for that guy, great for you lol. It's just not a car I'd ever recommend for a beginner.

Follow that to set the car up, this helps get all sensors sorted/back to OEM
