the broken end that's supposed to extend is meant to go into a small hole which keeps the whole link from moving around but since it's broken there's no stopping it. i have some ideas of what i can do, but i wanted to hear any suggestions. thanks for anyone's help in advance.

Time to hit the junkyards. I see lots of those everytime I go.

pretty much you can easily make your own or weld the piece that broke off. True though you can get one at the junk yard
