the reason the welds look like that is you are using the wrong gas for stainless when you are mig welding. gas types play a factor for mig welding stainless steel. i believe you are using 80%CO2 and 20% argon. generally used for carbon steel. the right gas for mig welding stainless is tri-mix, consist of 90% helium, 7-1/2% argon, and 2-1/2% CO2. you'll get better results with tri-mix gas for welding stainless steel. also these internet welders on here don't listen to them most have never pick a welder before or know the engineering process of welding. twirl your mig gun when welding doing the letter "e" in cursive. you'll get beads like tig beads. play around with it.

Hello everyone,
I just got the car back from the tuner after i had to replace a rod and the crank due to a wiring harness failure. Wiring specialties has let me down since the day i bought that harness. the fuel injector clip slid back and let the plug come un done and stopped fuel to the 3rd cyl on the dyno. I bit the bullet and got it all taken care of. making 338 hp on a dynojet i think? the dyno that reads lower... so got the car back few small issues and now i am going to be painting it at my work. Any reason my 75amp alt fuse would be blowing?? i know it will blow if there are wires hooked up backwards etc.. but not sure whats going on. Updates coming soon with pictures! |

Anyways i really appreciate your effort on spend all your hardworking money on your S13. Like many other members advice you, please dont go to with the drift missile style 18 years old fanboy style... if everyone is advicing you about the cheap parts its because probably we already fucked up our cars by buying fake / egay parts in the past. |

Little update..
Like i said got the car back from the tuner its running great need to button up a few loose ends but everything is good. spent some time this weekend wetsanding the primer getting it ready to bring to my work and spray it. I think i have made my mind up that the car is going to be grey... nice and subtle. some pics and then some more pics of what i have been up to at work, i have been getting to spend a lot of time working with the master tech at my shop cutting off body panels and welding on new panels. I have been learning so much Wetsanding away [IMG]20170225_214048 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Chopping off a rear body panel on a bmw [IMG]20170220_143948 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Welding up the new one [IMG]20170220_154128 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Mazda 3 rear body panel and lower right side pocket replacement [IMG]20170131_164306 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Mazda CX-9 quarterpanel replacement.. Up next i will update with pictures of the car painted.. |

Finally got to lay down some color tonight...
Really thankful i have found such a good place to work that they let me use the shop this weekend to paint my car. I am really enjoying my job. Anyways, started off my saturday morning with my car on the trailer and headed over to work. [IMG]20170311_070223 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Spent a couple of hours in the morning aligning those shitty fiberglass fenders and did some final prep before getting everything into the booth. [IMG]20170311_155052 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Love my 3m accuspray gun.. this thing is the balls.. they came out with a bunch of tips so you can spray anything from clear to undercoating. [IMG]20170311_161524 by , on Flickr[/IMG] First coat of sealer [IMG]20170311_163409 by , on Flickr[/IMG] All sealed, spraying the roof black first [IMG]20170311_172157 by , on Flickr[/IMG] ended with 4 coats of black on the roof [IMG]20170311_174545 by , on Flickr[/IMG] basecoat all done about to spray clear [IMG]20170311_201042 by , on Flickr[/IMG] few coats of clear.. [IMG]20170311_210114 by , on Flickr[/IMG] Bumpers looking nice and wet [IMG]20170311_210104 by , on Flickr[/IMG] And thats all for now.. making 350 hp on a mustang dyno and cant wait to drive this thing this spring!!! I spent 15 hours at my work today painting this dam car. |

Persian rug makers put a purposeful flaw in their pieces as well.
Nothing is perfect Before you know it you will no longer be 15, you'll be 30 and still doing car stuff haha |

Fair enough, just leave the bold out of it. We know that; it also makes you sound like a twat. Which, I doubt you are... :2cents:

Looks pretty good man, what size tip are you using for base and clear?
I bought an Iwata lph400lv today, comes with a 1.4, hoping I can get away with shooting both with it, thoughts? |

Thank you, you will probably be fine i used a 1.3... i really love my 3m accuspray because you can get any size tip 1.2-2.0mm (one time use tips) and all you have to clean is the needle after use. its like spraying with a brand new spray gun every time... its only $200 +/-

Need some help here... this car is a never ending nightmare
Got the car back from the tuner and painted it, all was good. went to drive it after sitting for a few weeks. No boost. intercooler is good all pipes and couplings are good, the Tial Q BOV was wide open at idle?? weird. so i made a block off plate and tested it, not the problem. everything looks good i have no idea why its not making boost. No play in the turbo, no oil in the pipes.. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I really want to enjoy driving this car but i havent even had the chance..... Thanks |

you're gonna have to be more detailed if you need help:
Did you drive the car back from the tuner? If so, how was it driving then? Did you ever drive it hard after the "tune"? Did you do any kind of work around the engine bay afterwards? What exactly is the car doing? Does it drive perfectly good until positive pressure starts showing in the boost gauge? Or is it only at higher psi? When boost doesn't "kick in", does it only feel sluggish, or does it sputter?

I didn't drive it back i trailered it, it was boosting fine directly after the tune. I didnt even really drive the car. I didn't do any work in the engine bay at all. when i drive it, it feels like an all motor car. no sluggish ness at all or anything just 0 boost... any thoughts? The BOV was wide open at idle, so i made a block off plate and tried to test that.. still the same... all piping looks good, the wastegate is secure. i am not sure whats going on. |

Hey guys!! the thread from the dead..
If anyone is still following this.. I just pulled my car out of storage since last may. I fixed the boost leak, car is running 100% and i literally just put the mirrors and other misc. painted parts on today. I have found some new motivation and i am so excited to start driving this car again. I should have it on the road in a few weeks. *** I am having the normal brake light short issue.. fuse keeps blowing im 99% sure i found the issue which is 2 torn wires in the hatch opening, but this is to the 3rd brake light, Im waiting to see if the fuse blows like it has been after a bit of time. Once i button that up, ill just need to put the bumpers on and other small misc stuff but its road ready ! Whats to come next..
Gonna get it registered, put the bumpers and the wing on. Im 99% sure that i fixed the taillight issue (torn wires in the hatch going to the 3rd brake light) so once thats squared away ill be able to put some miles on the car. In the next few months... I am going to try and get up to clubloose north (NH) and get some seat time on the track sliding this thing. To come is definitely a 5 lug swap, bigger brakes (z32?)?? and replacing my racelands with some fortune auto coilovers. Once i cover the suspension and brakes, maybe that will involve some new 5 lug wheels and this car will be in such a good place.. updates to follow soon! Thanks for reading! |

Damn, i remember reading this thread a couple of years back. It's pretty cool to literally be able to see how much you've grown, learned, and how much effort you have put in to this car. With all of your set backs, down time due to paint and engine building/tuning, etc, how many miles do you think you have actually driven this since you first bought it? Keep up the awesome work!
