Your shifts were more precise being auto, and since you didnt start from a stop you didnt have to worry about catching up from a bad launch. From what I've heard top end power in a WRX is pretty weak, and that the car is all hype. I've never driven one so I cant say.
p.s. just to inform, not a whole lot of people on this forum are fans of street racing, so its just best to keep the stories to yourself or local friends

The KA24DE is rated at 155hp and 130rwhp....someone correct me on this one.
I like the WRX, I wouldn't mind having that car along with my 95 AUTO

i wouldnt mind having one either, but not for 20k, i like my car alot, i just bought it a week ago, power everything. what do you think it might weigh? for the price of a wrx, you can buy an ls1, and those my friend are NASTY. *dreams* do these ka24de's respond well to mods? i was thinking about gutting my cat and maybe a better exhaust, kinda new to the nissan thing, but maybe a 75 shot to get me out of the hole. im going to ruin my daily driver, lol

adam

Keep the cat. Simply gutting them is a proven loss in power (plus that whole pollution thing). As for the WRX vs an auto 240, i believe that you won, but he probably wasn't trying. Or was in an auto as well. 240's are quick, but fast they are not. I've sped up many times to pace porsches, ferrari's and vette's, but that doesn't mean we were racing.

I DID NOT WIN! we both turned on to a street, he saw me behind him, waved me up to him AND GUNNED IT, i followed suit. we went from about fourty to about a hundred, we ran into some turns, i let off thinking he was done, but he lays into it through the corners, HE COULD NOT GET AN INCH on me. my rearend is all squirrely at that speed, felt kind of uneasy, anyone know why? i need sticky tires. but he knew we were racing. he did have one more person than me, but i am 6'4 260, so not much weight difference in passengers. all i was saying is what happened, i dont want people thinking i am bullshitting or anything. that IS what happened.

the race was a straight line, we didnt hit the corners until after i thought the race was over and he tapped his brakes. then he nailed it so i thought i would see if i could keep up in the twisties. i did. I AM SURPRISED, Im not bragging about my car, im just stating what happened, and are 240s normally real loose in the rearend? it felt like it was just trying to turn sideways on me. i would still rather have a wrx.

I have taken a WRX and it was pretty close but i pulled on him in third. You missed out on the best part of a WRX that would kill you and that is the launch and the cornering. And I will agree the top end of the WRX is not comperable to the top end of the SR.
I had a post like this a while back and everyone wanted to call shenanegans but this story is pretty...how should I say it...shady. I have 60+hp on you and I had to work to pull on him so what does that say. Maybe it was a 2.5RS I also can't wait until i get my LT1. I just need to come up w/ a reasonable down payment to my father-in-law and the...get this...convertable 6sp T/A w/ the LT1

its pretty obvious that he wouldve killled me out of the hole, my car is a DOG out of the hole, hence, why we went from a roll. like i said, we hit corners and he still didnt get away from me. after we slowed down he turned off and wouldnt talk to me.

it might have been an auto, but if he was just playing with me, then why did he turn off in such a hurry when i hung with him. he is still roughly 80hp up on me and not that much heavier, either way, im proud of my little car.

There's no way you'd hang with a WRX in a straight line unless the driver really, horribly, sucked ass. Even the corners would be close, although through the tight twisties I'd put my money on the Nissan. Although, no one has mentioned the likes of wannabes.
Perhaps he put all the WRX emblems on a regular Impreza?

driver error could be alot of the problem i raced a friend in his 99 eclipse gs-t and its a stick, he didnt have the proper gear he was in like 3rd going 35 and i was ripping away from him, cuz he didnt know what gear to be in to race, well i suspect some drivers are like that, and maybe this wrx guy was the same way?

I believe 95auto. My friend has a WRX 5-speed, and he almost lost to a 96 eclipse GS-T. The WRX launch is just too amazing, but once it hits 3rd, it's like our KA (pretty SHitty). 1st and 2nd, are hella fast, but since you guys were starting at around 40, his best gears were pretty much useless.

Yeah, maybe when he was going 40, he forgot to downshift to 2nd, and left it in 3rd or 4th. Could be a reason why he didn't pull on you at the start of this "race". But once he got to 3rd gear, he wouldn't pull on you too far, because their 3rd-5th gears just suck so much ass. |
